were off to DLP in a couple of weeks and im just starting to plan our dining- we've been twice before, and whilst we've almost always had good meals would like to try some different places. Have tried looking at some of the reviews, unfortunaltly some are a little out of date.

there myself, my hubby, my mum, my DD and my DS. My son is the only slightly fussy eater. We've tried rainforest, cafe mickey, plaza gardens, rendevous des stars, annettes,

*) wheres the one place you think is a "must eat at"?

*) we've done cafe mickey twice- both times had great experience- however is there an alternative still with great charachter interaction- Lucky nugget??

*) has anyone eaten at the crockett tavern recently? good/bad/indifferenet

*) does anyone know the times for the sunday brunch at the steakhouse?

many thanks

Hi there. Not sure we've got a "must eat at", but apart from the Agrabah (which other people generally seem to like, maybe we just had a bad day) we've enjoyed every meal we've had (Parkside Diner, Inventions, Restaurant des Stars, Plaza Gardens, Cafe Mickey, BBWWS, La Grange, Lucky Nugget), the nearest to a must do for me is Inventions (only reason it isnt a must do is I think its a bit pricey to do every time), and that would be my recommendation for your number 2 question. When we went to Lucky Nugget in April 2008 it was excellent, but when we went this Feb although the food was still good the character interaction was rubbish - we were there about an hour and a half and only saw 3 characters (Mickey, Goofy and Pluto) - they went in for a break then the same 3 came back out again, very disappointing as we saw 8 the first time.

Sorry cant answer your other 2 questions as have never done either of them.

my must do would defo be cafe mickey:banana: i loved it

on our trip we did

Inventions - very good character interaction, nice and relaxing but the food was just too fancy for us, there was loads if seafood.

Auberge de Cendrillion - again nice character interaction but food too fancy apart from the deserts, yummy, the best part of the meal!

BBWWS - this was actually quite good food, but i cant do 2 things at once, so i missed parts of the show as i was busy munching my food lol:rotfl:

Cafe Mickey - loved it, all round :thumbsup2

Lucky nugget was my favourite last year great food atmosphere and character interaction. That is a must do for us. So I can recommend this as a possible alternative to cafe mickey for you (though we are doing both!)
This year we are trying blue lagoon and walts neither of which we have visited before.

Up til earlier this evening, I would have said Cafe Mickey is our must-do - however I asked my DD what she'd prefer out of all the restaurants she knows at DLP, and she said Annettes! We're trying 2 new ones for us this next trip - Hunters Grill at the Sequoia Lodge (with a visit to the bar there for cocktails :goodvibes) and Walts lunch.

The best meal we had last time was at Walts- I can't wait to go back. My son who can be a fussy eater really enjoyed it too. He also wants to go back to Cafe Mickey and Silver Spur!

My favourite is Walts, I love it.my DD fave is cafe mickey so those are our must do ones.

ash loves annettes as well, i could take it or leave it but apparently its a must for our next trip.

the meals we have most enjoyed are the auberge, plaza gardens and silver spur (but not in the evening)

Before you read my comments it's probably worth saying that we're not ones for fancy food (not just chips etc though - probably somewhere in between). We are also not big on seafood but do love desserts. We sound a lot like mickeymouse11 above! As a result we have not done others favourites such as auberge and inventions.

I think overall we've enjoyed the buffet restaurants the most (but not all)

Beaver creek tavern - this choice on our recent trip was more or less just to fill a gap and also for an easy evening after travelling as it was in our hotel. However, it would now be one of my first choices. The starter buffet was ok but you then get a choice of a main meal (we had steak). The dessert buffet was then great. Kids don't have the main meal but were happy with the two buffets. Probably not for everyone but good "best of both worlds" choice for us.

Restaurant des stars - been twice and enjoyed it. Would definitely go again

Steakhouse Sunday brunch - runs from 12 until 3 I think. Was ok when we went but verging on being a bit too fancy for us. The main carved meat was fine for us but I don't recall there being much else for us as a main course "main item" (some seafood etc). Desserts were ok but not the best selection I've seen buffet wise. Got to see about 4 characters. Nothing wrong with it. I just think other places have suited us more. I would probably consider it for a non brunch meal next time

Crocketts tavern - went 2 years ago. Again nothing wrong with it but I wasn't impressed with the selection on offer. However, others I travelled with were happy enough

La grange - opposite of the above. I thought it was fine, whilst others I were with thought the selection could be better. Would still be behind some other buffet restaurants though

Cafe mickey - been 3 times but unfortunately not managed to replicate our first visit which had great character interaction. Other 2 visits we've been left disappointed in that respect. Too much bustle and other kids not waiting for characters to come to their table etc. Characters seemingly wrong choices for which path they follow around the room (3 in a row all go same way etc). I really think you just have to be lucky and hope for the best Food wise I've always thought it ok but nothing more. There are no standout choices for me on the menu so I have to really look hard (others will disagree!). Last time, the kids dessert table had flies all around it and on the brownies) which kind of put me off things a bit. I know I'll be in the minority here but I plan to look for a different character experience for our next trip and give it a miss

Annettes - don't need to say much. Think most people enjoy it

Bbwws - good but even as quite a quick eater, I felt a little rushed. Don't think they can do much about that other than extend the show. Think I agree with comments above about eating and watching being difficult

Rainforest - enjoyed it and theming is obviously good. Not a must do for me though

Hope this helps but keep in kind we all have different tastes and expectations

loved the cowboy cookout for lunch and had a great meal in the steakhouse on our last trip.

really disliked the food in the rainforest cafe and the €5.10 large coke was a shock :scared1:

loved cafe mickey, had a nice relaxed meal but would avoid plaza gardens at all costs!

annettes is a firm favourite in my house too!

We seem to end up @ Annettes at least once every trip!
Love cafe Mickey too, and the Steakhouse sunday brunch was just fab! could have stayed there all day lol
