No, this is not a joke. I'm going in October with a bunch of relatives, and while we'll all be on the dining plan, we want to cook a huge Italian feast for just 1 night in our villa. The question is, where can I get the right ingredients like fresh mozzerella, fresh ravioli & manicotti, fresh parsley and cheese sausage - you get the picture.

So I'd be delighted to know where there's an Italian speciality store nearby - I'd be happy to drive 10 to 15 miles if I need to. Also, does anyone know where there's an Italian pastry store - fresh cannollis sound like a good way to top things off!

Thanks for any help in advance - I know this is a tough one!

Are there any Fresh Markets in the the area?

Kae

I'm from Long Island, so I don't know where the fresh markets are. I'm hoping to hear from someone from the Orlando area.

Best wishes,
Dave

I have to be honest, I truly don't know the answer but if I was doing it, I'd bring everything from home, time my flight so that I'd be able to check into the villa with little or no wait. You're not going to get anything close to what you are used to from the NYC/Long Island area in Florida. Let me put it this way, have you ever eaten what they call Pizza or a bagel.

Actually the more I thought about this, do you live or can get to an Iavarone Brothers Pork Store/butchers? I'd have them put together a package of what you want suitable for bringing down on a plane. I know they do it all the time from the Queens store as I see people in there all the time making an order to ship to their "winter" home in Florida because you just can't get real italian fixings anywhere else.

I'm from Long Island also.....I would not even attempt to find an Italian Market in Florida...even if you did it will not be the same food...(no offense to Floridians)..Go to where it is you buy from now and have everything shipped...Most places will pack everything in a disposable cooler with dry ice and ship it overnight....That is the only way to go....The first thing my family does when we get back from Florida...is order a pizza......There is no place like home (or Italy) for good Italian food.

pastosa ravioli ships nationwide
they have a website www. pastosa. com

Thank you all for the perfect solution - I never even thought about shipping it but that's the PERFECT way to go! We'll all do an Asti Spumonti" toast that night to all who responded with the brilliant shipping solution!

Sincerest thanks,
Dave

Good luck with your feast and may you have wonderous memories from you family trip!!!

For wonderful cannolis, you may want to send someone over to Epcot. They have had some of the best cannolis I have ever tasted! they are sold at a stand so I am not sure if you'd be able to get a larger number and have them wrapped in a box. Just a thought, though. They really ARE good!! :cheer2:
