Rain drops on roses and whiskers on kittens...

These are a few of my favorite things...

What are your favorite things about vmk?

(I checked out these boards for the first time in ages today, after someone sent me a link. There is so much negative on here, there's got to be something great about vmk. The magic has to live on somewhere in this virtual world!)

Double pirate days!
They brought back blue princess and Guys Crown!

These are a few of my favorite things! :goodvibes

- Meeting extremely nice people on VMK! It's bad that this has to be classified a good thing because in my mind, in VMK, this should be a NORMAL thing. When I was new, someone gifted me an outfit (3 pieces). Even though it was "only" 75 credits, it was so sweet! That gesture was so touching and it actually meant more than winning something worth 500 credits in a quest!
- Helping people out! Now that I'm getting the hang of VMK things, I love it when I actually know something that will help a fellow VMKer out. I hope that by being a nice person and doing a good deed, that person will continue to do the same.
- The fact that you don't HAVE to actually spend money to play VMK. Sure, I would love to go to WDW to do in-park quests. I would love to buy movies to get codes. But the thing is, I don't HAVE to. I can play without them and still earn credits to buy costumes and such.
- Double credits day for Haunted Mansion!
- Seeing people's extremely creative guest or quest rooms! I'm not creative at all! I just like having furniture in my room so people can sit and whatnot. However, I love coming across a room that must have required a lot of thought! I feel it's very Disney-esque for people to use their imaginations.
- NPCs and Music games! I can only imagine what it would be like if I couldn't get those daily 280 credits (all NPCs plus playing and mixing at least once in both street party and monorail).
- How the Peter Pan dark ride actually looks exactly like the real Peter Pan ride in WDW! Part of me feels like I'm at Disney World! I especially like that the blocks in the Darling's Nursery spells out "Peter Pan" just like it does on the ride!
- I know people are bummed that there's no animation on the churro or popcorn cart and part of me is bummed about it as well. But I still get a kick out of little RachelNinja munching on a delightful "snack" from the penny press, drinking water from the aquarium cooler, and eating at the Blue Bayou!
- Lastly (for now~ I know more will come later and I will probably post again!) ... the prospect of the turkey leg cart! I remember the first time my family got a turkey leg at Animal Kingdom. We didn't know they were so popular and it was the BEST turkey leg we have ever eaten. We got our hands and mouths all dirty but it was well-worth it!

:goodvibes Helping people and even more so seeing when others are helping out someone since I don't see it to often. I love looking forward to seeing what is next to come out in the stores. The Fantasyland rides are one of the best things they have added. I love that we have the churro and popcorn carts. It will be cool if we get the turkey leg one to add to it as well. Those things are such a big part of the theme parks. I love seeing what others do with their rooms and how creative they get. As well as the quests that are done (which reminds me to make another one). Seeing those are are greatful and excited about being given something out of the blue for nothing. I've seen a bunch of good in the game. Coming across some wonderful people in the game that you become friends with.:goodvibes

Hi Tink,

What a wonderful thread :)

What VMK means to me-gosh so much it is not easy to put into words. I came into this game because of my son- he needed help and I have now stayed in this game for far so many reasons. First and foremost VMK is a place that I can enjoy spending time with my kid. When they get to be teenagers it is not always easy to find things that you share a common interest in. Disney and VMK has done that for us. I enjoy visiting Ink and smalld in the game and share in their world. Ink has his bedroom next to my computer room and I sit some days and just enjoy listening to him and smalld and their constant excited talk about all things VMK-makes me feel good.

I also enjoy how the game has made my son come out of his shell. I have seen him grow and mature on the game in the 2 years he has played. I have watched him grow into an upstanding citizen in an online community. I can not tell you how wonderful it makes me feel when I get random PM for disers-some I don't know who run into him in the game and feel the need to let me know of their positive experiences with him-makes it all worth it. This game has sparked his imagination into graphic design so much that he now speaks of going to college for graphic design-so who knows this game may have sparked a career for him in the future.

The second major joy in VMK is my friends. True friends that really care and understand you are a rare commodity not only in VMK but in real life. My VMK friends are there in the best of times and the worst of times in my life. They are there to encourage me and give me the strength to move to keep going even when life throws you some huge punches. The best thing is my VMK friends have wonderfully spilled into my real life. Many of them we talk more off of VMK now then in. I have made a wonderful lifelong friend thanks to VMK and we now spend time planning our trips around how we can both be at the world at the same time to see each other. It is a joy to get to know many of my friends outside of the realm of the virtual world and realize many of us share the same worries, hardships and triumphs.

VMK is like Christmas 365 days a year. When you log on you never quite know what will be there- something new, an exciting venture, a new friend, a new game or long fun chats with all you friends.

I LOVE seeing the creativity in so many rooms-I am in awe some days when I see what people can do with the items we all have-some amazing rooms out there!

On days that seem rough I remind myself that there is far more good in VMK then there is bad-just the bad seems so easy for everyone to complain about seems the way nowadays both virtual and in real.

So thanks Tink for reminding us that there is so much we love about the game and heres hoping that we start to see more fun and positive things also on the Dis!

Hugs:grouphug: to all my wonderful friends,

Bug

I took a much needed break from VMK. When I came back to the game, things were so different. Change can be good as it moves us forward.

I love, love, love the new dark rides. Being a Tink fan, of course I like the Peter Pan ride better than the Alice. If the Pan stuff goes on sale, I'll practically be in heaven :P

The last couple weeks, I've been enjoying playing pirates with my son. I stink and he is awesome at the game.

I agree, I started a thread like this called VMK .. Things that make you smile
I try to bump it up every now and then but people seem to be so focused on that bad that it seems to die pretty quick. :sad1:

Personally I do not think we can have too many postitive threads and your thread is 7 pages long with the last post on the 18th so I do not think it has died just yet.

I am enjoying reading all the posts in both threads....THANKS EVERYONE who is posting! :)

More of my favorite things!

- I'm going to be really girly and post that I like that they released the tiaras again so that I could get one! I would never wear a tiara in real life (unless I were playing dress-up with my little cousins!) but RachelNinja loves walking around VMK with one on!
- Gifts! It is so corny to say this here but it really is better to give than receive! Not to say I don't appreciate gifts because they are always fun but now that I'm getting better at games (and with double credits) to get more credits, it is easier to gift.
- Finally being able to get pink car magic! Yes, I know a lot of people are working on or have already gotten the green car magic but this is exciting for me!
- Matching outfits with my friend on VMK! We either wear the same colors and hats or wear the corresponding outfits (ie. Troy and Gabriella).
- Although I wish Jungle Cruise gave out more credits, I do like that when I have to step away from the computer, I can put RachelNinja on a boat to at least get 20 credits for nothing!

Haha, I'm sure I'll write more ...

Tink.....your oreo filling is overflowing as usual.........!! LOL

Always look on the bright side of life....:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

I don't get to play VMK very often anymore...just because of life being too busy. But when I do play, I enjoy knowing all my friends are just a click away to chat with or play games or dance the night away. I also love hearing a stranger or friend wish for something and be able to just gift it right then and there. Gifting and helping new vmker's out is so much fun.

It is much easier to be kind and helpful to each other then to be mean and negative.......same for real life too!
I have met many wonderful friends from Dis & VMK and for that I am truly thankful!

- Looking at the "Yay Me" thread and seeing AmberDaze post another high score. Persistance pays off.
- Walking into AntJewel's Gnome room and feeling at home.
- Searching out those who I haven't seen in a while on VMK and having them just as excited to see me again.
- Playing "Friendly Pirates" and wondering who's turn it is to win and knowing that nobody really cares, as long as you get to blow up someone, (cough Duck cough).
- Searching for the right "something" someone has been looking for, so that you can "gift" it to them, even if they aren't on your "Friends" list.
- Visiting the dragon, and pirate and Ned and Esmerelda and Gator and the Ghosts and Yeti. Even though they aren't worth much in credits, you know they are there just like a trustly old blanket.
- Waiting for "Flying Carpet Magic." Yes, Fly, there is a Santa Clause and he'll bring it to VMK someday.
- Being "Happy" and "Grumpy" aren't just Dwarves they are great friends to have around.
- Looking at your "Friends" list and seeing names that haven't been on in months and you still keep them on there, just in case they pop back in sometime soon.
- Reading on Dis that a young man, his mom, his best friend and his mom's best friend can become an inspiration to an entire group of people who now have more than one thing in common.
- Calling people "Pink" or "Blue" or "Yellow" or "Brown" because of their name or skin isn't racist or hateful, but a compliment and just normal.

A trip to WDW: A whole heck of a lot of money
Pirates Pins and all those other souveniers: A few bucks here and there.
VMK: Free

Knowing that its just a game, but you've made some really cool friends:
Well, I don't have to give you that answer now do I?

As I'm only a few months old (in VMK years), I am as excited as any kid for Halloween and especially for Christmas.
I am looking forward to seeing Christmas lights go up in VMK, just as much as putting Lights up on my own house. :santa:

Yes! I can definitely add that onto my list ... the prospect of Halloween! I never even liked Halloween (probably only dressed up in a costume once as a kid and that was for school!) but now I have reason to look forward to October!

They put up lights and decorations in VMK?!? I didn't know that! Haha, poohluv2u just provided 2 more additions to the list of why I love VMK! Or should I say glove ...
