I can't be outraged because I'm on holiday.

Maybe I'm not the brighest bulb on the tree, but I have no idea what you mean by this. But you wouldn't have a problem if they let those religious beliefs influence their decision making (as long as it's legal)?

You are kidding. This was well reported when it happened. It took me a whole five seconds to find this story. http://www.mndaily.com/articles/2006/11/29/70090I listen to Glenn Beck regularly and don't recall him saying any such things. If you could, please provide a link to some quotes he made about Rep. Ellison. Since you made the claim, and you're really good at linking to other peoples quotes, you need to back up that claim. Thank you.
Beck is a major idiot and his question to Rep. Ellison just showed that he is clearly Islamophobic.Recently, Beck interviewed the newly elected representative from our Fifth District, Keith Ellison, and said to Ellison, "I have been nervous about this interview with you, because what I feel like saying is, 'Sir, prove to me that you are not working with our enemies.' "
Beck has made a career on statements like this one, and while Ellison would have been completely justified in blowing a gasket on this ignoramus, his response was to chuckle and dismiss Beck's accusations of treachery by stating that he loves our country and that he doesn't need to prove his patriotic stripes.
You may be right because I finally looked for the article and found it. I was not surprised to see that this quote was left out. http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061225/NEWS99/61225002/1004/NEWS02I have to believe that the OP is really an undercover liberal trying to make the right look bad, because to cut a snippet out of context like is a sloppy tactic and easily found out.
I hate it when people do not provide links to their sources. Today it is not hard to track down a quote. Here, the OP took some statements entirely out of context. But Ellison said in Dearborn that Muslims can help teach America about justice and equal protection, suggesting that Muslim activists may be part of God's plan. He spoke at the annual convention of two Muslim groups, the Muslim American Society and the Islamic Circle of North America. The convention ended Monday morning.
"Muslims, you're up to bat right now..." he said. "How do you know that you were not brought right here to this place to learn how to make this world better? How do you know that Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, (meaning praised and exalted is he) did not bring you here so that you could understand how to teach people what tolerance was, what justice was? How do you know that you're not here to teach this country?"....
"We're going to continue to face them," Ellison said. "They're not going to stop right away. But if you, and me too, stick together, if we believe in Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, if we turn to the Quran for guidance, we'll find an answer to the questions we have. And we will find that we are an asset and a plus not only to our own community, but to this country, and to this whole world."
I agree. I saw this piece on a blog that echoes your views. Most of my views are VERY liberal, I'm a Christian, and I couldn't give a hoot about being politically correct, whatever the heck THAT means. I don't care if our elected officials believe in the Bible, the Quaran, the Tibetan Book of the Dead, or the Gospel According to Peanuts as long as they uphold the Constitution of the United States.
In his letter, Rep. Goode notes with pride that on his office wall are The Ten Commandments and "In God We Trust." But nowhere does he say if the United States Constitution is up there. Given that that's the only thing a Congressman swears to defend, Goode's priorities demonstrate his unfitness for political office. I include that of dog catcher and gas meter inspector.
Of course, President Bush has been quoted as referring to the Constitution as "just a piece of paper," so Mr. Goode has company in unfitness.
Mr. Goode refers to Keith Ellison as "the Muslim Representative from Minnesota." But he's not. He's the Democratic Representative. Just as Mr. Goode was not elected the Christian Representative of his district. If Virgil Goode would like to be a Christian Representative of something, of course, I'm sure the papacy has application forms in the Vatican.
If Virgil Goode had had one of those U.S. Constitution thingees on his wall, he might have understood that.
A fat lot of goode it would have done him, though.
I listen to Glenn Beck regularly and don't recall him saying any such things. If you could, please provide a link to some quotes he made about Rep. Ellison. Since you made the claim, and you're really good at linking to other peoples quotes, you need to back up that claim. Thank you.

The concept of putting all muslims and Arabs in concentration camps must be appealing to the Islamophobics and the concept of having a Muslim in Congress must really scare them.As Media Matters for America has noted, Beck previously warned that if "Muslims and Arabs" don't "act now" by "step[ping] to the plate" to condemn terrorism, they "will be looking through a razor wire fence at the West" and declared that "Muslims who have sat on your frickin' hands the whole time" rather than "lining up to shoot the bad Muslims in the head" will face dire consequences.
The concept of putting all muslims and Arabs in concentration camps must be appealing to the Islamophobics and the concept of having a Muslim in Congress must really scare them.
We all went thru this administration's screamin'The concept of putting all muslims and Arabs in concentration camps must be appealing to the Islamophobics and the concept of having a Muslim in Congress must really scare them.

I've heard Michelle Malkin speak positively about the idea of placing Muslim's in concentration camps, so the idea is not one that is lost on this crew.
The right is in denial about the existence of Islamophobia. My letter also stated, "If American citizens don't wake up and adopt the Virgil Goode position on immigration there will likely be many more Muslims elected to office and demanding the use of the Quran."
Immigration is arguably the most important issue facing the country today. At least 12 million immigrants are here illegally. And diversity visas, a program initiated in 1990 to grant visas to people from countries that had low U.S. immigration at that time, are bringing in 50,000 a year from various parts of the world, including the Middle East.
Let us remember that we were not attacked by a nation on 9/11; we were attacked by extremists who acted in the name of the Islamic religion. I believe that if we do not stop illegal immigration totally, reduce legal immigration and end diversity visas, we are leaving ourselves vulnerable to infiltration by those who want to mold the United States into the image of their religion, rather than working within the Judeo-Christian principles that have made us a beacon for freedom-loving persons around the world.
Again, the term Islamophobia appears to applicable. The right wingers are really disturbed by the concept of a Muslim serving in Congress.
So let's see - you provide a quote, taken from some story you read and are trying to make a point. .
