I got up this morning and noticed that our hamster's cage was left open. :earseek: DD was petting her last night and she must have forgotten to close the top of the cage.

I have been walking around the house calling the hamster's name and DS says, "Mom, I don't think she is going to say, I'm here." :teeth: We were supposed to work outside to prepare for the hurricane, but now I have to worry about the missing hamster. :guilty:

Will she come out when she gets hungry? :confused3

DD and younger DS just found her in the hallway closet! She must have squeezed through the gap between the door and floor. :flower:

Consider yourself lucky that you found the hamster so quickly! We had one that escaped and climbed up into the area behind the bathroom vanity! When you got on the floor, you could see that there were open areas under the cabinet trim! My DH had to carefully dismantle the whole thing in order to resuce him, and he had happily gnawed an area inside the cabinet away while he was on his "road trip!" We made sure to cover those open areas up so that it wouldn't happen again!

we lost ours one time, he ended up under the toy box

OMG! :earseek:

my gerbils used to hide in my closet when they would get out of the cage. sometimes it would take me 2 or 3 days to find them. they would chew up everything in the closet and actually made a bed from stuff they found in there. i was amazed that they survived it probably helped that i wasn't the cleanest kid and always had some gerbil food on my floor.

My son's hamster escaped this summer...was gone for two days then returned back to own cage...guess he liked his "own house" better ;) :p
