Where's the beef? (Prime Rib)

A couple of years ago it seemed that everywhere we went there was prime beef. Now I don't see it as much on the menus. Who all still has prime rib on buffet or menu?

This year we bought DVC, so we are very limited on money and only are getting three days in the parks. Those days we will be on regular dinning.
So we picked our favorites. Crystal Palace late lunch around 3:30pm for Magic Kingdom, LeCellier for lunch at Epcot, and Prime Time at the studios.

Now for two days we will be staying at the beach club and will be on deluxe.
First night we are going to Ohanas. Then not sure for the next day. We think maybe Cape May for dinner. The next day we are planning 1900 for breakfast and Califonia Grill for dinner.

So the where to go for lunch or breakfast on the second day? Maybe even change Cape May. My hubby love prime rib and I would love to find a resturant (outside of parks) that has it for lunch! Any ideas?

I don't believe there are any buffets accepting DDP that still offer prime rib.

a lot of times is a prime sirloin that they carve up on the buffets - every now and then I've read that someone had a flat iron steak?

Its a cost cutting measure I'm sure -

The Turf Club, at SSR has prime rib for dinner, for lunch they offer it au jus in a sandwich, both very good.

The prime rib at Kona is pretty good.

No more prime rib at Kona. :sad2:

Used to be great at Le Cellier too. What I went for! Sadly when it went to a signature it disappeared from there too.

Olivia's at OKW still has it as far as I know.

Boma used to have a prime rib to DIE for. Boatwright's still has it but it is not 100% cooked in house (very few places cook their own prime rib as it takes a long, long time.) Boatwright's IS good, but not premium.

We had the prime rib at The Turf Club last week and it was surprisingly good. We just hope they still have it next year when we return, since menus are constantly changing.

The Bone-in Prime Rib at Shula's is Excellent but it is HUGE, 44oz's I believe. If you have someone to split it with it would be great.

You do need ressies for Shula's, they are not on the DDP but are part of TiW if you have that.

Dining plan notwithstanding, Shula's is the place for prime rib. As Patinmn said, it's a monster, nearly 3 pounds of beef. If two people could finish that, they are hearty eaters indeed. :earsboy:

You used to be able to get great prime rib in quite a few places including the castle and several buffets like the 1900 Park Fare :cool1: Now my favorite place to get a super yummy prime rib is Olivia's at Old Key West  And their potatoes are so delicious :thumbsup2

My DW and DDs (now adults) LOVED the beef at Boma back in the day. They are very picky eaters but could make a meal out of the beef and "potatoes with Afritude".

It seems that the beef has changed, and the potatoes with Afritude are gone now. I'm disappointed because the beef & spuds were my ticket to get a "foodie" meal while others could eat something simple.

We had Prime Rib at Boatwright's last year and it was very good. It was actually one of the best dinners of the trip. The restaurant was not crowded at all and we were staying at POR so we could just walk back to our room when we were done! (It was pouring rain that night so we had cancelled our ADR elsewhere).

There are restaurant.com certificates available for Shula's too http://www.restaurant.com/Info/LandingPage/Chain/Shulas-Restaurant . $10 for a $25 certificate but there are many code out there for 70-90% off that $10 price.

I also think that Shula's has a nominal "sharing charge" for splitting their steaks. I have heard that it might be $10. Some people have reported that they were not asked to pay the plate charge but others have had to pay. I would be prepared to pay.

ETA: I did not see a 44 oz bone in prime rib on the menu. I did see a 32 oz prime rib for $39 on a year old menu. I don't know if it's bone-in or not.

Shula's is not on DDP and yes you do need a ressie.

You can also try the Yachtmans' Steakhouse. I have heard good things about them.

YSH no longer has prime rib(unless they brought it back and I am unaware of it). They got rid of it and the horseradish mashed potatos, my favorite meal anywhere, about 3 years ago. I have gone back once giving other options a chance but nothing can compare to that incredible meal.

Now I go to Shulas for prime rib and theirs is wonderful! I have also been to Le Cellier for it and enjoyed that very much but then they got rid of that too. :confused3
