Anyone watch CNN???

What a Riot!!! Poor Kerry, gave the speech of his life just got nominated for President. . . and the lead story on CNN is the case of the limping balloons. HIL-AR-I-OUS!!!!!

Despite balloon malfunction, I am proud to be an optimist and so thrilled to see my next President give an intelligent, credible, hopeful message.

Kerry and Edwards all the way, baby!

I think the balloons were timed. He was supposed to speak for 55 mins but rushed through it and only actually spoke for 45 mins.

Was anyone watching it on CNN? The producer's microphone was left on and he was getting increasingly frustrated that the balloons weren't dropped and the confetti was. He even uttered the "F" word. It was funny hearing Wolf Blitzer apologize for that one. I don't know where I stand yet on the election, but it sort've irritated me that the lady commentator had to immediately say..."well, it's no worse than the vice-president using that word." Give me a break lady.

I absolutely could not believe it when I turned on the news this morning and they were still talking about the damned balloons. AS A LEAD IN STORY How absolutely asinine. The media is an embarrassment to themselves.

I'm curious. Has anyone hazarded a guess, or posted a fact, concerning the ultimate cost of those balloons? Acquiring, inflating, affixing, releasing, popping (that was probably free :) ), and removing?

Seems kinda silly to me to pay that much for balloons, especially to then allow them to overshadow instead of enhance. Maybe not silly, maybe just unfortunate.

If I'm not mistaken, according to This Article, the estimate would be about $250,000 US.

Let's see:

1000 pounds of Tissue-paper confetti - $50,000

100,000 Balloons - $200,000

Having convention producer Don Mischer drop the "F" bomb on national TV? - Priceless

Yep, it's a waste. You are probably too young to remember that
they've been doing the balloon confetti thing since the 50s and the advent of conventions on TV.
I'm guessing the organizer of the RNC will make it sure that
they HAVE one more balloon and a pound more confetti.

DH and I were talking about how wastefull it is last night.
