This makes me so sad to read this, I hope Steph and Maddy are doing okay. Why can't people just be nice to one another, is it that to much to ask for( I don't think so!)? "Love one another as you love yourself"

I was a debate board regular. Should I go somewhere so that I don't bother the nice people? I was unaware that I am a trouble maker, but I must be. And here I thought I went out of my way not to start trouble and listen to people I disagree with. From what I could see, most of the DB regulars were not involved in this incident and every last one of them I know would never dream about doing something so mean to Steph. This is not the first time a cast member has had this done to them by some lowlife. The last time it happened, the DB was still here. Perhaps there is another explanation.

The DB was very rough and tumble, and yes peoples feelings did get hurt over there, but we all understood it as a place where the rules were a bit relaxed and, beleive it or not, we all respected each other for the most part. Most of us abandoned the rough and tumble approach when we started debating on the CB.

I know of no one from the DB who is here to stir up trouble by posting on the DIS and to imply that they are is an insult to some of the most decent, honest poeple I know here. You might be suprised how many CB regulars were DB regulars at one time. Yes, we had a troublemaker or 2, but they were the exception,. not the rule.

The CB is no different than it ever was. The closing of the DB has changed nothing. Its a great board, but it has always gone through stages where it gets "meaner". It has never needed the help of folks from the DB for this to happen. It eventualy results in a crisis (around once a year or so) where many people get upset, and then we all make up again. We seem to be in one of those stages now (and the elections are simply feeding the fire). Sit tight folks, if experience is a teacher, it wll get better again. In the mean time, let please try to avoid the stereotypes. Most folks here really are nice, at that includes us former DB types.

Steph: I think I speak for nearly everyone on both the CB and the old DB when I say I hope your life is getting better and I hope whoever the jerk was that tried to bring you down never bothers you again. We wish you all the best.

Thanks for posting that Hound...I also was a DB regular and did not participate in the thread that caused all of the ruckus with Stepharoonie!. I hope she and Maddy are well and that she will be back posting again soon.

Ever since the DB closed, we displaced DB regulars have been insulted by blanket statements and generalizations over and over by people who claim to be 'nice' and only want the 'meanies' to go away.

If the CB or DVC boards suddenly closed and all their regulars suddenly found themselves posting on another DIS board, how would you feel if any time there was any negative thread people said things like "Sheesh, I wish they would bring back the DVC/CB board so that the troublemakers would go there and leave us nice people alone?"... it's not very nice. It was enough to lose our 'home', where we regularly had contact and conversations and even disagreements with eachother.

Just want to say that it's entirely possible that Steph's employer (i.e., Disney) read what Steph posted on the DIS without receiving an E-mail.

Some years back, there was a CM who posted here who found himself in some hot water with his employer. He said that Disney has a couple of people who read the DIS regularly. I don't doubt it; there is certainly a lot of feedback about Disney's parks and products to be culled here.

Anyway, just want to point out that it's very possible no one ratted Steph out. She may well have been reprimanded for things posted here, but it could be because Disney discovered it just by reading here.

Wherever you are, Steph, whatever happened, here's wishing you and Maddy well.

All of the threads about a legal fund for her problems were unsolicited. I can't believed someone would be banned for that. Don't recall any vents about her employer, it was mostly about her personal situation. Maybe she is in the process of moving. Whatever the case, best wishes Stepharoonie!

I did participate on the thread in question, and I'm not a former DB regular. I felt very strongly that a fund for Stephanie and her legal battles was inappropriate, and said so. I hope I didn't offend by voicing my opinion.

Having said that, I think its terrible that someone reported her to her employer (for what? I don't understand that -- I never saw her post anything here that would warrant anything for her employer to be upset about?). I'm not surprised though, as someone else pointed out, this is not the first time someone reported another person to their employer.

I think a lot of us here had a lot of sympathy for the situation she was in.

We all can learn a lesson from that thread though. I think people should be careful about giving out too much personal information (where they work, town they live in, full names of family members, financial information, etc)

The thread that's going on with the "affair" has the whole family listed by name, the town they live in, etc. If someone really wanted to find out about these people, they can because the OP gave out all of this personal information.

WOW!!! I find all of this so hard to believe!!!! Call me stupid or naive... but I am shocked that someone would send a thread to anyone's employer... WHY??? What is the point???

Also, I fell really bad, I was one of the people that wanted to help Steph with her situation and had voiced my willingness to help with the "fund'. NOt done to hurt anyone, i truely feel bad for Maddy caught in the middle and want to help Steph. As everyone remembers Steph was posting about her frusterating situation and not asking for any help but venting. Some of us volunteered to help becuase we wanted to help her and her daughter... how can that get turned around to be a negative or bad thing???? How does that get someone banned??? I feel terrible about this....I didn't mean to hurt anyone... Maybe i go hide in a vat of chocolate....

ITA! If those comments are from the "nice" people, I'm not sure I'd want to be "nice".

As others have said, the DB was not involved in any way with the Stephanie thing. I recall several WDW employees who got reported by the "nice" people on a couple of boards including the resort and community boards. It's the "nice" ones you have to watch out for.

I was a DB regular for quite a while and half the time the threads started there were a result of nasty arguments that got out of hand on the CB.

Seems to me your painting every person who posted on the db with the same brush when I know for a fact before the db closed, the CB wasn't all hugs-kisses and pixiedust either.

I've seen a "handful" of cb regulars who "PIXIE BLASTED" innocent posters up the wahzoo just for asking a simple question in the past and present.

Hopefully, Steph will be back with us and posting again. In the meantime, we're thinking about you and Maddie. Hope all is well. But....I used to lurk over on the DB. Yes, it sometimes got a little rough. That's why I lurked and didn't 'play'. Here on the CB it seems that if someone posts with a problem or a request for prayers or something along those lines, a certain sector gets all in an uproar. There are threads that actually promote a healthy debate. You know....it's pretty easy to discern what a thread is about before opening it. If you don't want to hear about somone's ailing parent, darn it...don't open that thread!!!! If you don't want to get involved in that political debate, don't go there. This is a community board....we should be able to come to our 'dis friends' and get some support. I'm sorry if there are people that try to help others and then get flamed because of their 'opinions' or worse yet...get banned. This is not rocket science...if you don't want to participate...DON'T!!!! Pass it by. No one is twisting your arm to get involved. If a thread goes someplace you don't want to go...leave it!!!! Let's not blame the old DB'ers for the problems we're having now. The CB'ers have always managed to get into trouble without them.
