Where you popular in High School

I was on the fringes. I hung out with cheerleaders and football players, but I never "made" cheerleader and was probably in the 2nd tier of popular. I also ran for office and didn't win. I also ran for prom queen and didn't win.

On second thought - I guess I was pretty much a loser!

I was cute though, and had a good tan.

NOPE!

I had NO desire to be a cheerleader, so that pretty much put me out of the 'popular' ranks.

Everyone liked me when we won the state basketball championship, though.

I had some good friends, but I wouldnt say I very popular. We werent in the cheerleader/football player, "in" crowd. I didnt sit home and study on weekends, but I didnt have boys knocking down my door either.
But, 4 of the friends I met in highschool are still my best friends today...15 years later. Thats whats really important. :)

I was definitely not even close to being popular. I played sports but I was one of the outcast people.

Haven't quite hit high school yet, but as of right now I'm up there. I'm the 4th popular girl!!:D :D Honey, my cuz, is the most popular, then Christina, then Heather, then me. It's pretty fun.:teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

I was on the fringes. I was an officer in drill team and dated a football player, but I didn't go to parties. I had a lot of friends but I was also extremely shy so some people thought I was a snob.

I was also someone who fell into the not popular, but not un-popular ranking. I was part of the "in" clique, but never quite the level of the top ten girls....y'know? popular by association. I was in band and so were half the popular girls, so I was acceptable material. Iknow, I know,....BAND???!!!!!!!!! I loved it, tho!

I was very similar to FINFIN.

My friends and I were in the middle. :) We weren't "popular", but we weren't unpopular either. We were all in the band....but band wasn't as nerdy as it is portrayed on TV. I met my DH though band, and he is two years away from being a music teacher...so we'll always be "band nerds". ;)

No not really, but I went to really small high school where everyone knew everybody else. I was the one who made good grades and ruined the curve for everyone else.;)

Never felt popular, but had a core of friends that always hung around together. I've been out of school 30 years now, but still keep in touch with some of the old gang, to me, that's more important than being popular.

Skuttle...did you see "AMERICAN PIE" ? I was cracking up at the portrayal of the girl in the band.... I had a blast in marching and pep bands...concert band was, well, better than being in Varsity!:p I'm happy your DH will be a music teacher....we can't let them disappear!

I was in high school from 1970-1974. It wasn't "cool" to be a cheerleader. I was in the bell bottoms, tie dyed T-shirt, hippie looking group! Long hair down to our waist, parted in the middle (no bangs) and purple eyeshadow!! LOL
I wouldn't say we were popular, and I wouldn't say we were unpopular. We weren't in the Bobbie Brooks crowd and we didn't hang around with jocks that had short hair. The cool guys had hair down to their shoulders!
Now I look at my yearbook and laugh at those pictures:teeth:

FINFIN: Yep...saw American Pie. LOL! The bad part is that I actually played flute in concert band! :o But, for marching band I did flags, so I never brought my flute to band camp. ;)

There really isn't any popular vs. non popular at my school because we're a school of 200 and my grade only has 23 kids in it.
Yeah there are some people who people like more but it isn't anywhere near as bad as public school was.

No was not popular, was friends with a lot of popular kids, but I was not popular.

Looking back on it, I am glad I was not.
A few of those girls had a lot of diseases I could not spell....if you know what I mean.

Some of the popular kids in my class never went on to do much except get in trouble and end up in jail.
Not all of them...just the ones heavily into drugs or wife beating.

No. I was very shy, but had a small circle of really good friends.

Not the least bit popular in high school. Since we moved around a lot, I was only at the high school that I graduated from for my last 3 years of high school. If you looked up nerd in any dictionary, you could see my picture:

nerd : an unstylish, unattractive, or socially inept person; especially : one slavishly devoted to intellectual or academic pursuits.

(Or was I a geek???)
