Where you live do they say Land, World, or just Disney?

In the NorthEast it's jusy "Disney" and the unspoken assumption is that DisneyWorld is what's meant. Outside of my SIL who was sent to Calif. for business and hit the Land while there, I don't know anyone who ever went to DisneyLand.

I am from Miami... we always called it Disney... and the other one we always referred to as the Fake disney!

Jersey/NY border here and everyone I know refers to WDW as Disney. Perhaps because it's already on the east coast but I'm almost positive I've never heard it called Disney World.

I'm from Miami and we call it just Disney. We go so often that just saying Disney suffices.

Actually the funny thing is that I was talking to my mom about planning a vacation to Disneyland, since I can't even remember going, probably next year and she was like... "Jenn, you went when you were 5 years old. It's smaller than Disney World, you may be disappointed because it's not as grand as WDW. But it's still magical!" Long story short, even my mom calls WDW Disney and DL Disneyland.

Mostly "Disney" (WDW), and "Disneyland" (DL) around here.

I'm wondering though...for people from the western states (anywhere from Colorado/Utah/West Texas/Arizona/Nevada/Ca/Or/Wa, etc... when most people go on a Disney vacation, do they go to DL or WDW? In the East (and even central), very few people seem to visit DL instead of WDW. I'm just wondering if someone from Denver or Montana would choose DL because it's closer, or WDW because it's bigger...

When we say Disney we mean Disney World. Here if you're going to California its Disneyland. Everyone we know knows exactly what I mean when I say we're going to Disney AGAIN!

exactly what I was going to say, seems like the norm on the east coast :thumbsup2

Miami here & everyone says......Disney

Yep, in Joisy most people I know call it "Disney". I call it "my Graceland". If I'm talking on the Dis then it's "the World" or "Home".

Here (30 mins. East of Anaheim) we call it Disneyland and we call WDW, Disney World. Sometimes when I'm talking about it online (with other Disney geeks) I'll use "The World" for WDW and I have been known to say DCA for Disney's California Adventure. Or simply Calif. Adventure. We never call DCA, Disneyland.

We live in the Chicagoland area and we always call it Disney for Walt Disney World, or Disneyland when referring to...well...Disneyland. However, a mom at my DD's bus stop and I were talking and I had mentioned that we are going to Disney in June, she asked me "World or Land", I had forgotten that she is from California so she often goes to DL, but her family does go to WDW on occassion.

Here in Atlanta it's just Disney, because we're just a hop, skip, jump, & a couple of sleazy trucker strip clubs down 75 from the Mouse.

A while back in this thread I read somebody saying it's wrong to refer to both California parks as Disneyland. I don't see what's wrong with that, because together it is known as Disneyland Resort, and the individual parks are called Disneyland Park & Disney's California Adventure Park. Just since we're being technical.

I am from CA (just moved to GA less than a year ago) and while there we also referred to WDW as "the World". Disneyland of course is Disneyland.

Here in GA I hear people refer to WDW as just Disney. I told many people here that we were going to Disneyland over winter break and many seemed to think we were going to FL and I just didn't know what it was called. :rotfl2:

Growing up so close to Florida we visited Magic Kingdom a lot and I am guilty for calling the MK Disney World. haha! I since learned that there is more to DW thank the MK

We just say Disney. If someone asks about our trips, and says "Disneyland" - my son is very quick to correct them. :lmao:

Where I am from... most people refer to "Disneyland" as both parks. Actually most people don't know the parks in California exist. :confused3 I am sure to correct them and explain to them the differences (one of my girl friends did that and then her boyfriend took her to Disneyland... she no longer makes that mistake).

When it comes to people who actually know (such as my family members) they usually say "Disney" but I, for some reason, always seem to say "Disney World."
