Where would you stay?

At the end of August, we will be making our first trip home to AKV. But since our youngest is still under 3, I'm considering taking advantage of the studios at another resort for a split stay while we still can. Which resort would you pick for a split stay if you probably only had this one opportunity to visit another resort? And why?

I would pick VWL for the boat ride to MK.

I would recommend renting a stroller for your stay from one of the companies which will deliver to you. That said, you probably want to be in a resort where you can take nice walks, pushing the stroller. To me, the best for this is BWV, BCV, or SSR if you like DTD. You would, however, have to take a bus to the MK.

I agree with Bobbi. With two kids, MK is a must. And the boat ride from VWL is lots of fun. Plus there is a direct boat to Contemporary Resort should you decide to dine at Chef Mickey's with the boys.

VWL has great walking trails as well. You can walk, or bike to fort wilderness from the Wilderness Lodge.
Our soon to be 3 year old and soon to be 6 year old (at the time) thought the bike ride was great (4 passenger bike). It wa really nice to be able to get on the boat to head back to the resort after leaving MK. We also took the monorail to the contemporary, and the boat from the contemporary to the VWL.
We like the pool at the WL, and the food at their quick service is pretty good/convienent too.

Either VWL for the reasons stated above, or BCV - we love being there with our toddlers in the summer! It is a quick walk thru the international gateway into Epcot for dinner, and an easy walk home after seeing fireworks. There is lots of entertainment on the Boardwalk at night if you need a break from the parks and the street entertainers often include small kids in their acts. We love the part of Stormalong Bay that are only about 18" deep with the sandy bottom. Relaxing to sit on the side and watch the little ones play. It is so different than AKV it would be fun to explore a whole new area.

Thanks for the input. I'm leaning towards BCV although VWL is a close second. We'll be at SSR in February & will probably still have some developper's pts left to use for our August trip as well.

I should have made my post more clear. We can easily stay anywhere now b/c we have 3 boys (ages 5,3 & 2) but once my 2 year old is three the choices are limited. We bought at AKV b/c we can put 5 in a 1 BDR so we didn't really consider any other resort. I'm not that familiar with the other DVC resorts since we've always stayed in the FW cabins or POR. I think BCV sounds like it has a lot of amenities that we would really enjoy.

Have not been to BCV but our kids (same age and situation you are in with room occupancy!) loved the BWV and the clown slide. BCV is pretty hard to get into due to size. BWV was nice because our kids love the fireworks, we could see enough of them everynite for the boardwalk area. We quick went down there a few nights with them in the their PJs then came back for bed. Actually we walked all the way to EPCOT twice with them in their PJ's too. Easy access to EPCOT is nice, the imagniation/learning (or whatever they call it) is nice because it has A/C. Actually EPCOT is nice because they have lots of places to go with AC. Also HS is walking distance and my kids love playhouse disney and muppets shows (again AC!!!).

With a 3 year old, SSR would be really nice. They have a zero entry pool, and if you stay in Congress Park (request only, not a booking category), you're 5 mintues away from DTD. The Spring would be my 2nd choice, as it's still close to DTD, and right across from the main pool.

BCV also has a zero entry pool, but from what I've read (haven't been there yet), the way it's laid out makes it more difficult to watch little ones.

VWL is beautiful, but I think you guys would enjoy it more than your 3 year old. Honestly, though, it's one of my very favorite resorts. Just gorgeous, and a boat ride away from MK.

Here's a pic of the zero entry pool at SSR, and the Donald Duck water spout area that's right there with the main pool. The kids love playing there!

With the ages of your kids, you will need an adult with each of them at SAB. It can be extremely dangerous for smaller kids.

I agree with Deb and Bill regarding the pool and the ages of your children. Our DGC were 3 4 and 5 when we went in November. THEY ALL wanted to try the big slide, not at first but eventually. We had 5 adults keeping watch over them, besides the lifeguards of course.

those sound the right age for MK - so VWL.

that say if you go to BCV - make sure they understand they can only use the kid pool not the adult pool at SALB.

then put an alarm of your 5 year old so you will know when he tries the big pool.

really think your youngest will be scare of that big pool - but a 5 year old boy does not seem to know fear

VWL/WL has things to do outside and inside - so even if rainning - some of its activities can still be done.
