Had a few hiccups with our plans and may need to change resorts so for 4 adults where would you chose to stay for 12 days? Beach Club, Old Key West or splurge a bit for a Treehouse?

I also need to rant a second because I called the Disney reservations line trying to get information on room rates and to see what was available and I got a cast member on the line who asked if we planned on purchasing tickets and dining I said I had an AP and we planned to pay for dining out of pocket with our AP discount. Well he went into this long spiel about how I should really consider doing a dining plan. And I repeatedly said, no thank you I just want information on hotels. I kid you not he continued to speak for 25 MINUTES about getting a dining plan. And then finally asked what we were looking for in regards to hotel I told him we didn't want a value resort and listed accommodations that would be ideal and gave him our budget for the HOTEL because I didn't want him coming back with a magic kingdom resort I can't afford. Then he started searching and saying that he's going to bump us down to moderate and then put a dining plan on and we'll be able to come in WAY under budget and I'm just on the other end like I didn't ask you to do that! And he started saying how he was going to change the reservation we already had. I got so irritated I hung up on him 45 minutes on the phone and nothing got accomplished and I never felt so disgusted? for lack of a better term, that this cast member was trying to force something and change things I didn't ask him to do. I ended up calling back and getting a lovely cast member who gave us the above options but it was so irritating and annoying I just had to vent.

Sorry so any way of those three where would you stay. We're positive that Beach Club is going to work out, but any information/insight you can give I'd so appreciate. I've never stayed at these resorts before.

Edit: We'll do 2 rooms at Beach Club or Old Key West, but only one treehouse.

How many rooms? Two? Or are you planning on one room (I can't do that).

If one room, I'd look at two rooms at the Swan or Dolphin!

No way could I do one room with four adults.

Oh sorry I should put that in the original post. We're going to do two rooms unless we end up in a Treehouse because there seems to be room to spare in those.

No one seemed particularly crazy about Swan and Dolphin, but I'll pitch it to the group again.

Yeah I'll commit murder if it's the 4 of us in a studio. The plan in 2 and 2. And if a treehouse the married couple will take the master. I'll take the other Queen and my friend will take the bunk bed.

Voted BC as it is our fave. Great location, plenty of dining and sweet pool.

As for your rant. Maybe it's free dining so he was feeling like he HAD to book that. Not a good free thinker. I had similar on our NYE trip. On Jan 3, due to check out of Poly on Jan 4, I went to desk to see about adding two nights due to bad weather for our drive home. He said nothing available there but he had a friend and could work some magic for us. I said we didn't want value but he called his friend and said he could get us in at All Star Sports and that was all that was available anywhere. I walked away and got on my phone app and found Coronado Springs and booked it (there was also Grand Flo but too expensive for me).

I'm quite partial to the Beach Club idea, but they all seem like great options.

Yeah I don't know cause we're going in December and there's currently no discount out. But he was really pushing it with me and that dining plan almost to the point where if felt like he was fighting with me, it felt oddly aggessive.

I voted Beach House because I'm partial to Epcot resorts, can't beat being able to walk to two parks. I'd also second the suggestion of looking into Swan/Dolphin. We stay there often and love it

Yeah I'm partial to the Beach Club, friend is partial to Treehouses and the other 2 like Old Key West.

BC is beautiful! Proximity to EPCOT and HS makes it a gem. Have a great trip. Sorry for the "used car salesman" you got on the phone. You did the right thing by exiting the call.

Yeah I think Beach Club is winning here. I've always been a Boardwalk person myself but that's not an option this trip sadly.

Yeah not matter how many times I said no thank you it doesn't work for us he kept coming back saying I was using it wrong. But in all seriousness we just don't eat that much. I felt horrible hanging up on him but he wasn't giving me much of a choice.

Why would you say that? Just curious to know your opinion a little better.
In general, I'm firmly in the "stay offsite" camp. I'd rather stay offsite, in far better accommodations, for less money, allowing the option of multiple Disney trips each year, or the flexibility to travel other places in addition to Disney.

Also, Disney transportation (all of it) leaves a lot to be desired, and doesn't factor into my enjoyment of Disney. It usually brings my enjoyment down. Really the only form of Disney transportation that I like is the boats.

That rules out Values and Moderates for me (since they're 100% bus transportation). Therefore, the only acceptable resorts are Deluxe resorts. Using my same logic, Animal Kingdom Lodge is ruled out, since it's not close to anything, and you can't even walk to Animal Kingdom from there.

So we're left with MK resorts and Epcot resorts. The monorails are not reliable, so that takes away those resorts. Sure you can get to some MK resorts by boat, but the Epcot resorts allow me to be able to WALK to two different DW parks (Epcot and Hollywood Studios). That leaves me with Yacht Club, Beach Club, Boardwalk, Swan, and Dolphin.

But, I'll only stay in a Deluxe if it makes sense, financially (hint: for me rarely does). I'm just as happy at the end of vacation if I stayed onsite or offsite (cause at the end of the day, Disney World is awesome), so why not save the money if the end result is the same. For what it's worth, our most recent trip was in February, at the Yacht club. Half of the cost was paid by work, due to a conference held there.

The only thing I like about the Treehouses is the proximity to Disney Springs, but it wouldn't be my pick. Old Key West has Olivia's, which is awesome, but I wouldn't pick there either -- though I would stay there over the treehouses. For location alone, it's Beach Club all day.

Another vote for BC-love the location. The Treehouses can be a pain transportation wise depending on your location. We like OKW, but going in December I think staying in the Epcot area would be a nicer option because of the holidays .
Sorry you had such a hard sell guy on the phone. There’s a clothing company I stopped ordering from because I couldn’t stand their hard sell for their credit card. Your situation would have ideal for expressing your dissatisfaction on their survey.

For me, a 12 night stay makes this a split trip. 6 nights at BC & 6 nights at OKW. This based on the choices you laid out. Easy access to Epcot for 1/2, and nice boat ride to DS for the other 1/2. For me, I would only stay at AKL or WL this time of year as pools are irrelevant and those lodge lobbies with fireplaces are most inviting early AM & late PM. Enjoy!
