Where would you like to see a DVC resort next?

I'd like to see one in the upper midwest. Maybe with some sort of connection to the Mall of America. That's the only US destination that draws more people than Disney World in a year. Of course, I would also like to see Disney running the Park at the Mall of America. It used to be a Knotts park, but a couple years ago was bought by Universal, and I don't like what they did to it.

Hey, Diane, how about a WDW type resort near the MOA for you and a Vero Beach-type resort on Lake Superior for us? It would be perfect! Unfortunately, not sure how Disney would do with SNOW half of the year. Would be interesting to see...!:lmao: At least we could save on all that airfare!;)

Definatly New England.. Cape Cod would be awsome.. just not sure where. alot of free area is conservation land..

New York City, Times Square Theater District.

Offer preferred access to Disney Broadway Shows for guests staying there.

Offer Disney Tours of NYC special sites, kind of like Adventures by Disney.

Ditto for London.

San Diego Beach area, will tie into split stays with Disneyland.

But I admit I am not sure if anyone will really BUY into these sites, I just want to visit them.

The one expansion that would have buyers is for the Polynesian Resort.
Even a small amount of units, and to concentrate more on Concierge units in this DVC facility.

I would love that!:thumbsup2

I agree with a few others here. Sell what you have now. Enough is enough. I'm starting to think DVC is getting too big. We were one for the first to buy SSR and at the time DVC felt like something special. Maybe SSR was the end of the good times. They turned The Disney Institute into SSR, then they added the Treehouse Villas. Kind of feels like "Let's take any under-utilized building on the property and turn it into a DVC resort." I just get the feeling now that DVC is just like any other timeshare. Definitely not what I want to be part of.

That's kind of funny you say that, because if I were to pick a spot in time that would signal DVC's demise, the beginning of the end, it would be SSR.

I mean, aside from the Disney parks. Where in the U.S. (or in the world) would you like to see Disney build a DVC resort after Hawaii?

I would love them to build a classic style sea-side resort in the Cape Cod or Martha's Vineyard area...one that would really flow well with the rest of the town's scenery.

I'm not convinced that is going to sell all that well though. Outside of the Northeast, are either of those places REALLY that big of a deal? Southerns have Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head, West Coasters aren't going cross country and Midwesterners can go a ton of different ways.

They didn't just add the THVs, they rebuilt them and added them. THese were in existence for decades before hand and have always been popular.

If you want out, then more for the rest of us to enjoy.

Disneyland Paris, Tokyo and Hong Kong

I am assuming the NOVA/DC/Maryland property will be part DVC as well, but I guess we shall see.

On Disney Property... Polynesian.

The Caribbean...

As for Aulani, I was on the July 6 DCL Magic in the Baltic, and they were selling Aluani as low as $100 per point (for 260 or more)... A lot of folks seemed to buy into Aulani and BLT (offering $500 on board credit plus $106 per point for over 250) on the cruise...

I agree with this as well. I remember when they were first talking about this and thought Disney would do a great job of creating interest in American History. I was pretty disappointed when they cancelled their plans.
The NIMBYs jumped all over that one... Instead of a Disney park in Haymarket, VA, they got an outdoor concert venue (expertly slipped through the zoning process during all the Disney hoopla) and a country club community (built by Toll Brothers on the land that Disney had purchased for the project). They lost a ton of jobs that the park would have created and all of the money that would have been spent by the visitors to the park. Not to mention revenue from several hotels that surely would have been built to support the park.

The funny thing is that most of the NIMBYs who argued against the park didn't live anywhere near the property...

Good luck trying to convince those Cape Codders that iit would flow with the rest of the Cape - LOL.

Things definitely changed after SSR. Those of us that were used to booking rooms with little notice have had to change our ways. I would personally prefer it if they did not build anymore at WDW. If they do I might have to look at how to exchange my VWL contract for an OKW contract since we love it there so much more.

It would actually be a good thing if they built more in highly coveted vacation spots. The caribbean would take some of the load off of WDW.

Here is a wild idea !

Would it be feasible for Disney to expand into Fort Wilderness or the shut down River Country area. Maybe call it the River Country Villas of Fort Wilderness? There seems to be a lot of unused areas there.

With the popularity of the few Tree houses at Saratoga Springs, this area would be an interesting location for more Tree houses amongst a forest like setting, being an annex of Fort Wilderness, with some Lagoon Views.

How about a Tree House Restaurant for the new resort, with a 360 degree outside elevated view, with a lobby on the bottom ?

Also "luxury cabins", some with two bathrooms, two bedrooms, and some with an overflow loft area with two sets of bunk beds to handle large families.

It would be nice to recapture the spirit of River Country, even if it became a small water park/pool area that was not using the Lagoon itself. This new resort small water park area would be like a rustic version of Storm Along Bay, with exclusive access for Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge area resort guests.

And I would theme it with lots of animation from "Brother Bear" !

Just putting on my Imagine-ears !

How about somewhere in the Carribean where the Disney Cruise Line docks? (I actually love the idea of Castaway Cay, no matter how impractical that might be for Disney). Work it out so passengers could cruise to the island, stay at the DVC for awhile, then cruise on back to the real world. St John's would be nice. :yay:
