Poly ALL the way! Although I think a CR is more feasble... I would go into debt for a Poly DVC.

I had heard that there were some sort of laws keeping Disney away from putting together a 'vacation ownership' plan out West. Part of the reason (along with slow sales at HH and VB) why they never developed and then later sold the great land over at Newport.

If not, I would have put that as an option because I'm a former So Cal kid and grew up going to Disneyland every year of my life until 1993 when I moved to South Florida. I would love to have the Grand Californian as an option. Oh well, who knows in the future.

GFV = 1st choice. It's my favorite resort by far.
PolyV = 2nd choice.
AKLV = 3rd choice.

I've never liked the Contemporary. On my very first visit to WDW, we stayed several days at Contemporary, then moved to Poly for several days. While Contemporary was near to see the monorail go through it, it's just to industrial looking for me. It's in a wonderful area, but the resort just leaves me cold. I think they should tear down the entire resort and replace it with something else.

I'm anxious about the Eagle Pines resort that was pushed back for SSR. It's supposed to be next in line. I really liked the concept and scheme of the proposed resort.

I've thought about this all morning, and decided that AKV would get my vote. To be able to see giraffes and other animals while strolling in the area, would be worth the inconvenience of being so far out, and then there's the pool, which finally wouldn't be off limits!;)

Interesting that there are nearly 100 votes already and we almost have a dead heat between AKLV & PV and then another virtual dead heat between CV & GFV.

I've never spent any time at the Animal Kingdom lodge, but I'm definitely going to have to check it out soon. We've stayed at the Grand Floridian, yet I didn't get the 'magical' feeling that I got when just visiting the Polynesian Resort. The Contemporary Resort has never drawn us...but, I hear that the food there is good. It's in a prime location in regards to the Magic Kingdom though and that would make great sense in putting a DVC wing there.

I'd be interested to see which of the resorts (if any) suffer from occupancy issues as compared to the others. That would almost surely give you a quick indication as to which to build a DVC wing onto it.

We've been to the AKL twice and are making our third trip in February. If you have not tried it, do. It is a great resort. Spend the extra and get a savannah view. It really is worth it. The art collection is better than some museums. Jiko is a superb restaurant with I believe the head chef from Artist Point currently in residence. Boma may be the best buffet on property. Rivals Cape May Cafe. Very nice zero entry pool.

This trip we are trying concierge and are doing the sunrise safari, both of which we have heard nothing but first rate reports.

I voted for CV.

We stayed one time before our first trip at VWL.
To see the castle at night is the best. I would wake up in the middle of the night and take a peek.
And the rooms are huge! Not my 1st choice for decorating style. But very.......Comtemporary

Of course if there was DVC we would get a wing not the toaster part. :p

Lol! Daydreaming here about the "new DVC resorts!"

Can you imagine the points structure for those MK castle view rooms!!!

Can you imagine the DUES at AKLV? :eek: If they make savannah view rooms at DVC, AKLV dues will certainly reflect part of the costs of upkeep! Yikes!

After 132 votes...the Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas have overtaken the Polynesian Villas for the first spot!

Wow, I always knew that the AKL had a lot of admirers, but this was not certainly what I was expecting from this poll. It's not done yet, but just interesting to see the developments. :scratchin

I think one reason for that might be the resembance to WL, Arny. They have a similar feel in the decor, and were designed by the same person.

I have yet to get to the AKL so as of right now I would choose Poly. But friends have told us how great the AKL is so I won't count it out.
