Where would you buy 80 pts direct?

Are these your only points? If so, somewhere with cheap stay rooms. Maybe OKW?

I would go with Riviera...I think their under 100 points price is $201 or $204? You get a long life contract and I believe it is priced lower for direct than some other resorts direct. You can use those points at new resorts ( not sure what the new GF rules will be).that I’m sure will be coming within 5 years. If you want to sell down the road, an 80 point contract would probably be desirable. e resale restrictions don’t seem to bother resale buyers (some will disagree, but most contracts under 100 points go quickly except for a couple of overpriced ones where only full price offers will be accepted).
A relative was thinking of buying 100 points direct to get the lower pricing and also applying for a Disney Visa card....you get a big credit with your first large purchase plus zero percent financing for 6 months....although their offer seems to change weekly so your mileage may vary.
It is perfect for weekend stays with the tower studio (which go quickly) and their studios are very roomy (standard view also goes quickly....but this happens at resorts like BWV, BLT, VGF also). A good location for Star Wars fans and Epcot Festival lovers.

Not what they asked? Direct is far easier and for smaller contracts, its often not a big difference in price once you factor in the small contract premium from resale. Dont have to wait months to get points, search for the right contract at the right resort with the right amount of points at the right price, lots of reason to go direct on smaller contracts.

That's just bad information.

SSR 100 point contract with points coming this February is $13,000 resale.

SSR 80 point contract direct is $14,400.

If you consider 11% more money for 20% fewer points a "small premium," malaho I guess.

Personally, either AKV (cheap direct price, 2057 end date is still ~35 years, I love the resort, good value on the point charts for Value & Standard rooms, where else can you watch giraffes from your room??) or CCV (long end date, direct price is reasonable if not the best, I love the wilderness lodge and would happily own more points there).

There's value, too, in Riviera, but I own enough points that I want there for now.

If I did, I'd add on direct at BLT, since that is where I already have a direct contract. It is my only resort without restricted points. It is also my favorite of the three I own at.
A close second would be at SSR, which I have a resale contract at, because I want to maximize my points there for larger rooms and tree houses.

Thirdly I'd add on direct at VGF2 during Black Friday sales this year when it goes for 100/pt for one day only.

80 points direct with a Feb UY you'd get 2021 and 2022 points, just to make that comparison a little bit more fair. You could potentially rent out those 2021 points and make the difference between direct/resale even smaller, but lots of caveats there like availability of those points to sell direct, if that's the UY OP has, other loaded, resale contracts, a lower negotiated price per point on that resale contract, etc. But that's not what OP is asking about. To answer OP, I'd probably get BLT or VGF, primarily because we have a baby and want that proximity to MK.

Except those 80 points come with less yearly MFs, can be bought with a CC to get longer to remove money from account, gives you exactly what you want and most importantly are not restricted in any way from RIV or future resorts.

If that’s all you want and need, it doesn’t take long to get that back since dues is the larger expense of ownership.

In that regard, $1400 is not a huge amount in the scheme of thing.

I am biased to RIV so that is always my choice. However, both OKW and SSR have lower cost and MFs.

RIV is harder to book, especially SV rooms as a non owner so if that is of interest I’d add that as a big plus!!

Are you under the impression that resale contracts have higher MFs than direct contracts?

Exactly!

You certainly are an optimist! I’d buy anywhere direct for $100 per point. 😂

I think she knows better than that! I read her response as 80 points vs 100 points MFs.

I’d wait for VGF2 to at least be announced before making that decision… & I say “I” bc that’s exactly what I’m currently doing!! 😆

If direct VGF pricing is put into a reasonable atmosphere, that’s where I’ll add-on. 😍 I love the resort, but don’t want a ton of points (as I wouldn’t be booking larger than studios there- it’s too points heavy for me). If it is sold crazy high, then I’ll probably be on the prowl for (larger) CCV resale. If I still wanted direct, I’d go for SSR (lower buy-in, good length left on contract, & also wouldn’t want a ton direct there)… or AKV because I love it and you can stretch the points further, making 80 a nice number. 😉
