Rumor Has it that this years D23 expo! In the walt disney theme park and resorts presentation they will officially announce a Marvel E-ticket hyper coaster for DCA opening around 2020 hopefully it will a year sooner for star wars land sake!! but armchair imagineering where would you like to see the new E-ticket Behind the ToT or In the stage 17 area or in another area please share your thoughts and opinions!

I think the more likely location is the former Stage 17, Monsters, Inc. and associated buildings, along with the current Transportation Hub land, which will be available when the Eastern Gateway Expansion finishes, hopefully in 2019, but with the current hold due to the Anaheim Planning Commission hasn't approved the project, nor has the City Council, and both have to before any new construction can happen (exception is the Actual Pumbaa Parking Structure, which was approved in the 1990's). So it might get pushed until 2020, which would mean that the new "Super Hero" Coaster would open later than that, maybe 2022. (Disney can't use the "Marvel" name in the US Theme Parks, since Universal already owns those rights prior to Disney buying the company.

That said, I think it would be a better fit next to the former ToT building, IF it doesn't show up in Cars Land sight-lines.

Frankly, Islands of Adventure.

Disney should not be in the hyper coaster business.

As a Roller Coaster Fan I have thought about this, and it is interesting, when DCA opened up in 2001, while they want to focus on Grizzly Peak, it was Screamin' that took over the view of folks driving by.

Now if a new Coaster is built just off Harbor where the Main Pedestrian Crosswalk is now, that becomes the "visual" view of the parks, even if it is shorter in height than the ToT/Guardians Tower.

Sends an interesting message. Disneyland has been associated with Roller Coasters since Walt Disney had the Matterhorn be built (First modern steel tracked Roller Coaster), but it and Space Mountain and Big Thunder are all "hidden" inside of buildings and themeing, and can't really been seen from the outside. (Though as a kid, it was always fun to try and be the first one to see the top of the Matternhorn when driving to the park. (1960's and 70's).

Same with Knott's Berry Farm nowadays, you have a group of Coasters that take over the sight-lines at Beach and La Palma.

In a third park. One that contains all of the sci fi and super hero movie based themes.

We have a winner! They should just keep Tower of Terror the way it is and build a third theme park full of Marvel. If they had any brains, it would've been home to Star Wars Land, Marvel Land, and the Toy Story Land they're putting in Florida.

For our family, we have zero interest in a super hero themed super mega fast "hyper coaster." If we wanted that, we could go to Magic Mountain. Hopefully, Disney Imagineering will do something really creative with it other than the standard "put some Spiderman or Batman decorations up" sort of thing that most theme parks do.

What I'd really like to see instead is something like the Tron roller coaster that Shanghai Disneyland got.

Where do they have enough space at DCA to build a HYPER coaster? Don't those have huge footprints usually? Maybe I'm not thinking of the right thing here, but I'm thinking of Goliath at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Will the city even let them build a 200ft drop coaster?

Anywhere in California Adventure that IS NOT near Carsland OR from the pier side and beyond. Maybe we will just have to wait and see in another 5 - 8 years from now!

Let's see, lets look at a marked map of a rumored area which would consists of the Monster, Inc. area being demolished, and using the current Transportation Hub area that is being moved to Manchester.

Six Flags has placed coasters in smaller places

Hopefully this will be an indoor coaster and the building they build will not be too ugly. I agree it is likely to go in the dead area of the park and spill into the area that is currently outside the park walls. It would be nice if they could manage to build the new coaster at the same time they build the new entrance and have it all ready to open together. Of course it would also be nice if the coaster wasn't the only ride/attraction in the area. But just because it'd be nice doesn't mean that'll happen. But I can hope. It'll be sad to lose Monster's Inc., but that area needs some serious improvements.

This rumor was on MC a few weeks ago and someone made a similar comment as yours. The writer admitted that it may not be an actual Hyper coaster, rather he was using the term loosely. It doesn't have to have a 200ft drop to be spectacular. But I think they will need to do something impressive. Another launch coaster (like at WDW) isn't super impressive when Screamin' is just around the corner. I think it'd be great if it was part thrill coaster and part dark ride with impressive theming all inside a building that on the outside appears to just be part of the metropolitan area. And of course a ride requirement not to exceed 48".

Yeah, "hypercoaster" in coaster fan vernacular is likely very different than what would be built. From the few rumors I've heard it's planned to be a highly themed, mega e-ticket indoor roller coaster.
