Hi....again, thanks for all the great opinions you are giving me. I know everyone has different tastes, but I really appreciate the input....it helps with me!

After kids go to sleep, DH and I really enjoy time spent in the evening on the balcony. Which do you think would be a better spot.....AKL/savannah or YC/waterview? THANKS!!

Definitely AKL!!!! I have never been to YC but I don't think we ever will since we discovered AKL.... I could sit out there for hours (and plan to this December).

Funny you should ask this question since we just returned from staying at the Yacht Club waterview and AKL savannah view. I also enjoy sitting out on the balcony at the end of every day. Both were great. At the Yacht Club our room overlooked the wedding gazebo and the water and at AKL it was 2nd floor on the zebra trail. I think it really depends on what you prefer. From the Yacht Club room at night it was very pretty seeing everything lit up on boardwalk , the lake and the wedding gazebo. There was a lot going on and it was fun to feel a part of it. AKL was a totally different feeling. It is totally awesome to look out your window and see zebras and giraffes. The landscaping is also pretty. At AKL things have a much more laid back feel to them. You feel much more privacy here. If at all possible you could do what we did and spilt your stay between the two.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

Stayed 4 nights at Polynesian and 2 nights at AKL
My husband loves AKL but let me tell you, this being our
3rd visit, I was totally bored. It rained/poured for two days
and I would have rather been looking at the other hotels,
parks, than a savannah with hardly any animals.
NO, I'm not putting down the AKL, it is a very nice hotel and
the cast members are friendlier than anywhere else, but
give me some action. Actually I talked DH in leaving a day
early since all it did was rain and there wasn't anything to do
except go to the movies and shop. Yes, I would stay again
at the AKL, but MY choice would be the YC.

We are like you...views and the patio/balcony are very important to us!

Both are wonderful views for very different but obvious reasons.

We love the AKL view for the variety of animals and evening peace.

We also love sitting on the patio and looking at Crescent lake and the Board Walk at the YC! Last time we were in room 1065 at YC.

Tough....but.....wonderful decisions!

Good Luck! ;)

Both resorts can have real nice views. Just remember, if you choose the AKL they have cameras all over the place so...be careful! :) (We just stayed there and they gave warnings about the cameras and to close the curtains in your room)

LOL about the cameras on the balconies:eek: .......not that anything would happen out there with 3 children tagging along :D .

I think we have opted for the AKL. As soon as I told DH about the more relaxing, slow-paced atmosphere, he jumped on that and said, Let's go there! He and I always wanted to try YC.....but we will later on. With three kids and very hectic lives, we are looking for something that will make us stop and relax. I'm afraid if we were at the YC, we would be out late every night with all the action.

Does the savannah really have an artificial moonglow in the evening?

Yep... it's pretty cool. You actually probably would not have even realized that it's artificial. You will definitely LOVE the AKL but if you both still want to try YC, why not split your stay? I have not done that (I would rather stay in one place the whole time - especially if its AKL) but I have heard of many people doing this.

Thanks for your help kdibattista! We are so looking forward to the AKL. I wouldn't mind splitting the stay....but, with the FTP, it's most advantageous if you stay in one resort. We are doing the FTP for 7 nights...then adding 1 night room only on at the end. This will just give us another reason to return so we can try the Epcot resorts. Can't wait!! Thanks again:D

I may be wrong .. but I thought AKL only slept 4 to a room?

I have not stayed at AKL ... but I have stayed at WL and the rooms are the same lay out & size. I would feel very crowded with 5 people. We felt tight with 4!

We love the YC .. bigger rooms and nice views.

An AKL Deluxe room sleeps 5.

My idea of heaven:

Sitting on the balcony of the YC (Or BWI) in the evening with my lovely spouse, sharing a bottle of champagne as we watch the lights and activity come up on the Boardwalk. The lake, the lights, the sounds, the activities.

At the end of a busy day, with our 1 child inside sleeping or resting. What could be better?

They are both great and my husband and I have spent time on both balconies. The animal watching from a savanna view balcony and the firework and people watching for a lagoon view YC balcony are both outstanding. We have solved this problem by staying at the AKL during our winter trips and the YC during our late summer trips, but if we could only choose one I would have to say it depends on the type of vacation experiance you are looking for. If you are looking for relaxation and a feeling that you cannot get anywhere else in the U.S. then go with the AKL. If you want to be in walking distance to two major parks, mini-golf, some of the best sit-down places in the "world", nightlife and fireworks then go with the YC. You cannot go wrong with either resort. I hope you have a great trip.
