Where will the Fantasy go once the Treasure comes online

Pretty confident we will see the Fantasy sail out of Port Everglades. It would be nice to see it do a Panama Canal Sailing and or bring one of the Two to the West Coast.

I feel like it may continue doing 7 nights, just out of Port Everglades instead for the winter months and then San Diego in the Summer or something. Its always a surprise that they don't have any sailings in the summer from the West Coast other than Vancouver. Seems like a missed opportunity.

I would love to see summer west coast cruises. Many cruise lines sail out of LA year round so there's definitely a market for it. Especially Mexican Riviera ones, since those seem to only be once or twice a year currently and always during a Holiday week which hurts my wallet way too much.

Considering how much Cruising has grown in that area, its an untapped market for them.

I am also keeping my fingers crossed that they follow in Norwegian Cruise Line's Steps and remake the Magic and Wonder in their smaller size format after they are done with the Triton Class.

Here's to dreaming!

Ditto NYC.

They have been actively reducing the amount of sailings from NYC. I would anticipate that is dropped as a homeport after the current berthing agreements end but who knows, they may still keep a short season there.

With all the poor behavior from guests on ships sailing from NYC, most cruise lines seem to be slimming down their seasons.

I've only heard of poor behavior on Carnivore.

They keep trying to say it's that they don't sell as well... Well, no. If you're only sailing when school is in session they're not going to. But summer cruises would do very well - I have gone running/walking along the path by the ports and they are ALWAYS super busy on turnaround day, especially when school is NOT in session.

I believe the Dream and Fantasy are too tall to fit under the Bridge of the Americas on the canal route (they are 216' and the bridge limit is 201'). So if they are going to the west coast they'd have to go around S. America, and Disney may not want to do that on an annual basis. Personally I'd love to see the Fantasy come to the west coast permanently, either for year-round Mexican Riviera and Hawaii cruises, or to supplement the Alaska itineraries in the summer.

Royal Caribbean was having issues a few weeks back also.

Speaking more from "this is what I've seen over the last few years," they eliminated the 7 night Bahamas/WDW round trip sailings entirely. They really slimmed down the Canadian cruises. I remember there was one that was a 7 night one way from NYC to Quebec City I really wanted to do but never saw it offered again after 2017.

I think that the appeal of cheap port fees in the Bahamas really does keep Florida's ports hopping. Also, they have a certain amount of visits they have to do to maintain their registry unless that has changed since the Pandemic.

The Dream is sailing out of NYC this year after the Europe Season. I trust that someone much smarter than I has done this research already. 😂

They can absolutely fit under the bridge. Especially with ships like Oasis and Anthem of the Seas sailing from NYC.

Is the 216' height of the ships with or without the part that sails underwater? Wouldn't the draft put it just short enough to sail under the bridge? This is me talking out of hope and no real knowledge 😃

I think it's 216' above the waterline, but having trouble finding a definitive document on that. I could be wrong (wouldn't be the first time). Maybe they can transit during low tide with a full moon and squeeze it under somehow...

Looks like they can fit under the bridge as the 216’ height includes the bit under the water.

He's talking about the Panama Canal bridge on Highway 1..
So sorry, Somehow I got confused with NYC and Panama Canal.

I remember the Norwegian Bliss going through the new set of Locks a few years back. It would be a tight fit but they could do it on the Dream or Fantasy.

Would be great to get one of the "newer" DCL ships on the west coast. It would also push me to consider a Panama Canal Sailing more seriously. I love the Magic, never sailed on the wonder but love the idea of a larger ship for more days especially with lots of consecutive sea days.

At this point, considering their heavy american base, it would make sense to have two ships in the Pacific and sailing from San Diego. Would be interesting to see them sail from LA again also.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for, and I stand corrected! Good to know it can squeeze under by a few feet - hopefully it increases the odds of Fantasy coming to the West Coast.
At some point they will have to retire the Wonder and then they’ll need another ship to to Alaska. I would assume either the Dream or Fantasy would replace the Wonder at that point.

Or build a custom ship for Alaska with lore enclosed areas but I can’t see Disney thinking that far ahead.

Someone mentioned at one point on these threads that the ships have to have a special reinforced hull to sail in Alaska due to Ice. Does the Fantasy have that? Can it sail in Alaska?

I don’t think it does but at some point (5-10 years?) surely Disney will have to start thinking about that.
