I saw (on this site's recent press release news) that Disney contemporary Hotel is building DVC units, but the article also said DVC was builing units at Disneyland Calif and Hawaii. Where in Hawaii...which Island, City?

It will be part of the Ko Olina resort area on the Island of Oahu.

Ko'Olina is on the southwest side of Oahu. That is the other side of the airport from Waikiki.

The good news is that DVC is investing in a Hawaiian property.:goodvibes

The less than good news is that they couldn't find a top location. :sad2: Ko Olina is second/third tier real estate (it's windy and hot due to it's location at the foot of a mountain bluff and lacks the wide, beautiful natural beaches found on the eastern end of Ohau). I would have much preferred it if DVC had looked into building a resort on Kauai, which is prettier than Ohau and still has top quality seafront land available. Marriott did that, and here's the beach that their time share members get to enjoy at Kalapaki in Kauai:

I have to agree with the previous poster. I was hoping for either Kauai or Hawaii. The area of Ko'Olina was terribly wet and cloudy when we were last on Oahu. I would have even preferred something on the other side of Diamond Head from Waikiki to this. The one good thing I can say about the area is that the views are pretty spectacular.

Sorry to hear about the rain. I used to live on Oahu, and it's actually commonly windy at Ko Olina, but that isn't the rainy side of the island. We lived on the windward side, and had much more clouds and rain than the Waikiki area. Ko Olina shouldn't normally have too much rain.

Ko Olina is still fairly new (although in 1995 when we moved there, the Marriott hotel was already there, but under a different name). We stayed at the Marriott timeshare a couple of years ago with some friends that bought there - it was very nice!

I think the Disney resort should be very nice - they were also building a Ritz Carlton fractional ownership resort there also.

We just spent 8 nights at the JW Marriott at KoOlina this month.

It was neither hot and windy nor wet and cloudy. I wouldn't describe it as at the foot of a bluff either.:confused3 There is a high hill back aways but it seems so gradual I wouldn't think it would have that much effect? KoOlina is located on the dry side of Oahu so the weather Diane experienced is presumably not the norm.

The walkway along the lagoons was one of my favorite things. Round trip is 3 miles and it is very safe even before sunrise with some locals out there every am.

The lagoons were very safe for swimmers because of the reefs. Our last couple days, the waves were very high in the ocean but Lagoon #1 was almost like a lake. Most days, it seemed exactly like a lake....no waves at all. Nice for little kids or anyone who's not much of a swimmer.

I took a few shots of the area where DVC will reportedly be built and downloaded them to my computer. Anyone have very easy to understand instructions on displaying them? I'm a 'puter end user.:surfweb:
