Where? Who? How? Photography? Help! Triplets take on the World!

Ok my 2 cents.... keeping in mind that I am not taking kids along either - and haven't for several years....

MK

Tonys Town Square
the Plaza
LTT

Pecos Bill - I love their "fixin's bar"
Columbia Harbor House

Haven't been to any character meal yet

EPCOT

Rose & Crown
Coral Sea
Nine Dragons (China)

I did not like the CS at the American Pavilion - hamburgers were very dry - I missed the fixin's bar.

the Bakery in France for lunch CS

DHS

Mama Melrose

We went to 50s years ago with the kids for lunch and I was not impressed with the pot roast, but we are going to try it again for dinner this trip - I'll let you know.

Min & Bill's - CS

AK

The only place we've eaten here is the BBQ, which is ok

HDDR - I love this show! We've been twice, but are not going this time since we are doing the MNSSHP and Dessert Party.

We've also done the Luau, but honestly I did not care for the food - very dry imho. The show was great though.

We are trying a number of new to us restaurants this time around, so when we get back, I'll give you an updated review.

I'm late to this game....serves me right for making the job priority;)

Keep in mind, I'm another one of those kid-less ones.

Magic Kingdom
Tony's - we're actually not going to do this in Sept and I realized about a week ago that I'm going to miss it.
CP - breakfast - big tradition. Whatever we're celebrating (my birthday, our anniversary, DH's birthday) this is where we do it.
(Counter Service is Cosmic Ray's or Casey's)

EP(er)COPT
We don't have any must dos, but I'll tell you this...wait a couple of years and those boys of yours will want to do Merakesh. They've got a belly dancer. DH conveniently sat facing her and I had my back to her. We've got video (I wonder why?)
(counter service - the new Mexico place, I can never remember what it's called. Love those mango popsicles...MMMMM)

Studios
Sci-Fi Dine In - atmosphere is fab & they have the Rocketeer's jet pack.
Mama Melrose - we never seem to be able to get any ADRs but we love this place. Homey with yummy dishes.
(the counter service at the studios can be left alone in our opinion. None of it stands out)

Animal Kingdom
Yak and Yeti- not only is this the scene of our most memorable dinner in Disney EVER (ask me sometime about Cranky Seasoned Citizen's Tea & the High Plains Princess's duck issue) but the dessert with wontons is super nummy. And it's very homey to me.
(counter service - 10am BBQ at Flame Tree. Had the chicken salad last year and I've been craving it for about two months now.)

Yeah...well...you're a cheater. That was an expired thread. They started a new Poly thread back the first of June. I unsubscribed to that old one! So there :p

Cracking me up!

Great TS list. We also liked Tepan Edo very much. VIa Napoli is a must for us in Epcot. We love the pizza and Italian margaritas. Handsome Italian waiters did not hurt either. Remember though no little ones here. What about ESPN they are all into sports?

Birthday: Desert Party is really good. Great viewing location? Have you done the pirates and pals fireworks cruise? Discovery Cove is beyond words if you have extra money. We did the dolphin swim and I added a celebration which included a buoy delivered to the birthday girl by a dolphin and a cabana fully stocked and breakfast and lunch. All day drinks and snacks are free. We never left the water all day except to sit after eating.

Have a good night.

I get the emails too...

No one mentioned Ohana?!?!?

the Top 5 I think this trip is going to be TS:
1 BOG
2. Boma
3. CRT
4. Sci-fi
5. Teppan Edo

How does that fair???

Ohana is one of my absolute favorites. We are repeating this trip!
Of those on your list I have only eaten at Teppan Edo and I HIGHLY recommend it. The food is wonderful, the "show" is great. Caden loved it and I think the munchkins will too. I have heard nothing but FANTASTIC things about Boma. I hope to try it on a future trip!

As for my other favs:

MK:
QS - Cosmic Rays
TS - ? Only eaten at Crystal Palace and it was just okay for me.

EP:
QS - Yorkshire Fish Co.
TS - Akershus and Teppan Edo (the kids will LOVE Teppan Edo...so fun, but grown up at the same time)

HS:
QS - Studio Catering Co.
TS - Only had Hollywood & Vine - HORRIBLE IMO!!!!!

AK:
QS - Flame tree BBQ (so yummy and HUGE portions for the $$)
TS - Tusker House (breakfast)

Resorts:
Chef Mickey
'Ohana (MY FAV)

Okay, not sure how I got so far behind, but here would be my list. Keeping in mind my triplets are 22 now, and the youngest 9. So, I will say about what year we did it, because .... obviously the experience could differ greatly.
I highlighted what I consider MUST DO's as often as possible. I didn't write on every place we ate as most are just average, or we ate there so long ago, it really probably wouldn't matter now.

#1 CRT. we did once in about 2002 when triplets were about 11. lunch. non character. they enjoyed it. THEN did it last Nov. with the 9 y/o. with characters did breakfast....she was so enthralled with the entire experience. EXCEPT the kids breakfast. But honestly, I just let her eat some of mine & DH let her eat some of his, plus the appetizer pastries were yummy, so she was plenty full. She was "at the age of not believing" and she just fell right into each of the princess' arms telling each about how she had met them previous years, etc. VERY expensive, but so very worth it IMO. We also did the Akaerhous with the princess experience, Not thrilled with the food or the princesses. youngest was just under 3, and the triplets were about 15. They found the wait staff the most pleasant.

CM - We love the craziness of breakfast, but we always do very early morning. This is an every trip meal

LTT - agree with Ruthie on this one. We used to love it when the characters were there. the last 2 times we found it very disappointing.

Crystal Palace - last Nov & when the triplets were about 10 lunch. it was good. breakfast, it is good. character interactions is geared for younger children I feel, but still very fun.

BoG - we did lunch last time OH MY GOSH so so so good! We are trying dinner this time.

Counter service- we like Caseys - but they only serve hot dogs basically. ( i actually don't like it, but the rest of the family love it)

Cosmic Rays. We all enjoy. suggest the chicken.

Epcot- Okay, we don't eat very often at Epcot. so... the only suggestion I have here is... IF your kids are going to miss out on school during your trip. Ask their teachers if they will be learning about any particular country this school year. If there is that country in Epcot, eat there. It will be a great experience. (also, I insisted they learn atleast 1 phrase in that language). My 3 were all taking a foreign language, so if they were to eat in that country, they were to order in that language. (good thing my french speaking son did well, he really wanted to order french pasteries.)

AK - we went to Yak & Yeti (take out) the 9y/o didn't like it much but she doesn't like chinese food either, very basic eater.

rainforest - we all always like

DHS - Mama Melrose triplets were about 6 we loved it. But,, that was a long time ago.
Sci fi - over priced underwhelming
Hollywood whatever it is called - typical hospital cafeteria food.
Pizza Planet - We have gone a few different times. Years ago I thought it was a good deal for the dollar (relatively speaking), recently, the food is decent, the salads are fresh, but the portions are small. That was about 2 years ago.

Downtown disney -
Planet Hollywood- triplets were about 9 we all enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. I highlight this only because I think your kids might be a good age for it.
Wolf Gang puck take out - we all enjoyed triplets were about 9

Earl of Sandwich - we didn't like, but we were unfamiliar with it and had no idea how to order anything, that was when the triplets were about 11.

Resorts
Poly - Capt. Cooks counter service, chicken strips were the best on property. We have eaten here a few times. Most reacently about 5 years ago

BW - BW bakery YUMMY!

Beaches & Cream - Yummy burgers & fries, & chicken & ice cream

OKW - Olivias - great atmosphere, decent food, but more gourmet. not our style. What we describe as a "greens" restaurant. As in not a traditional salad, but a "greens" salad. Not a hit with my boys.

SSR - I haven't eaten there, but when the triplets graduated HS they & their friends LOVED the counter service there.

Others have suggested it so I will chime in: Beaches and cream might be a yummy place for a birthday celebration. We atr the kitchen sink there once and it was lots of fun. I wouldn't waist time going there on a park day but if you have a down day or arrival day with time it might be worth it, especially since you will have a car.

We also enjoy sunshine seasons at Epcot for counter service. We usually eat lunh and wait for our soarin' fastpasses to come up.

Thanks for the welcome!! I like split stays as long as they are 3 nights or more before the switch. I also appreciate that they will transfer your bags for you-as long as they get them to the right place :rolleyes1

MK TS Plaza-though I would pay oop if on dining plan. BOG was yummy, CP for breakfast, Tony's was ok, LTT I want to try for lunch dinner was good
CS CHH best in my opinion

DHS Sci fi is the only we will really do For cs Pizza Planet or backlot express

AK LOVE Yak and Yeti, Flame tree is good but I have a mostly non meat eater so that was a bit tricky

Epcot Coral Reef, Teppan Edo La Casa or San Angel for atmosphere. My kiddos also love the nachos at La Casa cs

Did Beaches last month was fun but crowded, kitchen sink may be fun on a bday. Cape May for bkfst only Boma yummy

Hope this helps. I can also send u crowd info if that helps :)

Miss Mary, please forgive me.. I should have said I don't travel with MY own kids anymore. And I usually let you pick the places we eat although you are kind to ask me if okay with me.

THANK YOU!!!!

I love the way everyone chimed in.. Including when the triplets were 5 but are 22 now! HA HA HA HA

I have an idea in where and what to do. in regards to eating.
I hope to get the dining plan. IF it is free next year i will upgrade to the DELUXE! Which means: 2 TS. which i can use on CRT and whatever else we want.

I am NOT a breakfast person. Yet: the rest of the crew do eat breakfast.
I like to have most of my TS in the morning so not to stop us from touring the parks. It was rough the first time and having to stop where we were to get over to the reservation. So i would rather NOT have lunch reservations. Early morning Breakfast and later dinners.

I am really hoping the magic bands fall to the way side. I am not up for planning rides along with the ADR's you see how much i need help with the dining throw in the rides?

No word on the second job. except it is moving onward. So that's good news.

So tell me if you like? Here are the tops picks

My MK picks: For TS
BOG
CRT
Ohana

MK QS
Cosmic Rays

HS For TS
Sci-fi

for QS
Starring rolls.

AK TS
Boma
Tusker House

QS
flame tree?

Ep(er) cot
tepan edo (sp?)

For QS:
where ever we are we can stop.

Beaches and cream JUST for the ice cream!!! :lmao:

Or CP.

That would be 8 TS...
They will be 10 i think that is enough character meals?? So thinking about this.. Maybe the next time THEY bring up Disney. Which will most likely be today. I may ask them what meals they would like to do.. I wish for them to be in the process of all the decisions. Surprise would be better!!! pixiedust:

I am a mess.

About the fastpass for the parade and Wishes, it is just an experiment that was going on when we were there last. You got chosen to participate or not. You could do the parade/Wishes or I think 3 rides of your choice. Have no idea if it is going to be part of the new fastpass roll out or not. Sorry to get you all excited!

As far as restaurants, my experience with SciFI is markedly different from others here. We tried it 2 or 3 times and each time the food was horrible. Not just so-so, but horrible. I loved the idea of it and the atmosphere is great. The milkshakes are wonderful too. Now, 50's Prime Time, we eat there every trip and have enjoyed everything there (except I tried the meatloaf and it was not great). I love the atmosphere as well. Mama Melrose's has wonderful food, but the service has been extremely slow every time we've been there. And they were not particularly crowded. The long and short of it is, what one person thinks of as a "must do" is a place someone else will never go to again. It's just so darn subjective. I think Ruthie is right in that your kids will love the character meals and the taste of the food is probably immaterial to them. I cannot say enough about BOG, though. Our evening meal there was fabulous! And if the kids wear their birthday buttons, you can request "the gray stuff". It is delicious! (it's not on the menu, but is given to those celebrating an occasion) And they can meet Beast after dinner!

I have not been to Mickey's Backyard BBQ, but thought it would be fun for the kids. Same with Hoop Dee Doo. I've heard they are both fantastic. Choosing ADRs is always difficult when you want to take everyone's likes into consideration. It's good for you to get a lot of feedback and then just choose what you think fits your family. I think that's part of the fun.

What new job were you talking about? Did I miss something? I thought I read from where I left off.

Well, I really just jumped on the computer to cancel my ADRs for September since we are no longer going. Here I am 2 hours later and still haven't cancelled. I've meandered through ptrs, checked out 5 online fabric stores, but haven't done what I came here to do. Going now. Have a great day!

I think you made great choices.

If you can't get to Beaches & Cream for the ice cream (it is over at the Beach Club by the pool), you can always go to the Ice cream place on Main Street...they have really good ice cream too.

Damn i did get excited!!! I would LOVE to get a perfect spot for wishes!!! last time i had this guy in front of me and he did NOT have an attractive head... :scared1:
we have done Sci-fi and loved it! Think this would be more 'fun" for the kiddies?!?! there really isn't too much to pick from in HS that is a Fun atmosphere.

I love everyone's experiences!!!! That's why i asked for them! :lmao:
I am looking for different places this time.. although i did love Tony's last time we were there for the grand gathering.

Yep! I interviewed for a new job! the co i interviewed for has their information on line to watch for. if anything else needs to be filled out etc. so hopefully i find out SOON! First paycheck from there goes straight to my booking the Disney VACATION!!!!!

GREAT!!! i really love the kitchen sink idea for their birthday.. but you know i will change my mind a thousand times before the 180 day mark!!!
i am an ice cream junkie. the kids too.. DH? Not so much.. eh well it isn't HIS 10 or his 40 birthday!!!

Now i have to start thinking about little surprises without giving too much away about the trip!

Totally forgot to mention!!!

So Meg is a girl scout. Yesterday they had an outing for the cookie sales! at the scariest place on earth!
American Girl store downtown. To find out she was a top seller and received a 25.00 gift card!!! :cheer2:
Not going into too many details it was very cute. when we go there they had a craft to do, a scavenger hunt, then lunch, then to the shopping. THANKFULLY she did NOT want a doll but wanted the Horse and one of the dogs! :yay:

Here is my peanut and I yesterday at the lunch. mind you i have a fear of dolls.

should post a Disney picture too...

ugh they were so little
