Where were you when you heard the Gulf War of 1991 started?

In grad school doing research at Cal State Sacramento. I was amazed that a couple of the professors that I had previously seen as quiet were hooping and hollering! They both left California a couple years later. I've wondered since if it was because they were apparently too conservative for CA.

We had just been assigned to RAF Lakenheath and were in transit. Just a quick step away from the sandbox. Arrived to chemical warfare classes and trying to decide if they were going to let dependants stay or make them go. God Bless our Troops they do so much and get so little.

I was in college down in Florida. I was driving home from the mall with my room mate, we saw a person get hit by a car, then the song *I want Money, lots and lots of money* came on and they interrupted it to say that the war started.

I was working as a manager of a mexican fast food restaurant (yes, the one with the dog) when I heard about it!

I was probably in a middle school class, or my mother told me when she picked me up from school that day.

I really don't remember much about the Gulf War since I was just a kid back then, but I do remember that there was a song that I LOVED that a bunch of celebrities recorded to support our troops. It was a "We Are The World" type of song for our boys.

I also have a Proud American button from that era, and I remember seeing yellow(?) ribbons everywhere to show support for our boys.

I just had to sing the rest of that verse! I loved that song. Ah, to be a kid again!

I was in my kitchen emptying my dishwasher. I immediately called DH (who is in the military) to tell him what I had heard on CNN and to see what he knew and I was the first to tell him the war had started. While we were on the phone together the message to them was just coming in.

in a restaurant at the time. I remember being a bit scared! My parents were in FL for the winter and I was afraid that they wouldn't get home.
