Where Were You When The Lights Went Out

I was driving home on the Belt Parkway (and really didn't know it had happened since there are no lights on the Belt Pky) but we were leaving for WDW the next morning. It was so hot we decided to get in the air-conditioned car and start our drive then.

We got there earlier and everything worked out fine!

I was here in NH. Had lights and AC the whole time . But in all seriousness I was in my car driving home from getting some veggies from the local farm stand when the breaking news about the blackout came across the radio. I was 6 days away from flying across the country with my then 12 year old sister (just the 2 of us) and all I could think was "terrorism". I was scared to death that that's what it was, and obviously Dad thought that too, because he called about half an hour later from Washington state to find out what the heck was going on and to make sure NH still had power and stuff. Otherwise he would have given me an over the phone lesson in generator operation to keep his house running

I work nights (5:30pm-3:30am).... so I went to Taco Bell that day. Just after I left the "Drive Thru" I turned on WJR, where it was being reported that power was out to listeners as far south as Toledo. LOL That's okay, our company has a massive generator, so once that got going we were back to work as normal.

I was working on wall Street. walked 4 miles to Penn Station. then sat in front of Penn until about midnight, when my sister drove in from Long Island to rescue me.

I was at work also. Work had no power, but my house 15 minutes away did! I got to stand outside the store and tell people we were closed.

Funny....our lights flickered a few times at work today and we were all thinking "oh no...not again!"
