Well here it is one year after the lights went out. Where were you. We were at the DMV my 16 year old just got his permit to drive. He was mad when I would not let him drive home since all the traffic lights were out.

I was at work in NYC...ended up sleeping here (sort of) on the floor. It was NOT FUN.

Sitting at my desk at my old job. We had to walk down 11 flights of stairs in complete pitch black conditions (nobody knew that the building's emergency lights didn't work in the stairwells).

It was a long, long drive home that night. I think it took me like 2 hours to get home (it normally took like 20 minutes).

You win!

I was sitting right here...lurking on the DIS. Hadn't registed yet!

We were home getting ready to leave the next day to go to Disney!!! DH was stuck in New York. Begging for a ride home, no trains running!!

I was also at work in NYC. But I ended up sleeping (also sort of) on the steps of my building. Building security wouldn't let us stay in the building. It was awful. Didn't get home until 6 the next morning. Luckily, a co-worker's husband was able to drive into the city (he works for the fire dept.) and get us!

I was at the Orthopedic's office. The room gets real dark when the door is closed and the lights are off.

omg - was that a year ago today?
I remember I was here at my desk (in CT) on the phone with my "wedding coordinator" at the place I was getting married (in Western Mass) making our "final meeting" appointments. I remember stuttering in my conversation when the lights went out and our generators kicked on...I said "whoa - sorry...just lost power there"

"So did WE!" she said back...

freaky deaky.

I was at work! *LOL* My office does have a big window! I was able to hook into the net through my cell.

Dh had already left the city on on of the last trains out! Lucky him!

We got our power back around 8-9 pm. Lot's of people didn't get power back till the next day.

Debs5angels, that's a great pic of your dd's. I know of an exact background to that pic in Georgia. It looks just like my mom's front yard.:)

Thanks browneyes,

The woods are across the street from my house. You sure your mom doesn't live in New York?? LOL:hyper:

I was on my way to pick up my DD from daycare. I picked her up OK and everything was fine. DW was freaking out because all of the cell phones were out and she didn't know if I was able to pick her up or not. The whole thing turned out to be fun - the neighborhood had a block party that night and our power was restored around 1:00am the next morning. Air conditioning never felt so good!

My mom lives in the woods.:p She knows I have a horrible sense of direction, I bet I lived in NY for years and she just told me it was GA.:p

I was at home helping my little boy with his new computer game and the screen went *poof* and everything shut down. I thought I forgot to pay the hydro bill! LOL.

I was travelling down to Gatwick airport to fly to WDW. When we checked in the next day to fly we were told our aeroplane and crew were still in America and hadn't been able to get home yet! They had to find another aeroplane for us and get a stand by crew.

We were lucky in our part of New Jersey, the lights only flickered. It was business as usual at work, driving home was fun some towns had traffic lights some didn't.

i was going on my first cruise some dissers live in canada and newyork i thought they are going to miss their cruise
