Where were you on September 11th?

I work in Central NJ and I do remember how nice of a day that was. I was surfing the net and saw on CNN what they said to be a plane crash into the WTC. I told my staff and we all went into the cafeteria. I called my parents and they mentioned that their neighbor works on the 86th floor of the 2nd tower. We were all in a state of disbelief. Outside the windows we could see huge plumes of smoke. We all did what we needed to do for the day and my DH left early to get our son at daycare, he was only 8 months.

The neighbor of my parents called his wife from the WTC towers and said he was ok at around 9:15am. He said the plane hit the other building. Unfortunately he stayed at his desk and was apparently killed during the 2nd airplane crash. He was 45 with 3 young kids. I remember driving home on the Garden State parkway that day and it was eerily silent. We went to Keansburg park that evening to gather and we could see just miles of smoke in the air. I'll never forget that day. The town next to where I was living at the time, Middletown, lost 47 people that day. It hit very close to home.

I should have been at work, but was planning to stop at the lab for some bloodwork before going in. I was taking my sweet time getting ready and was half listening to the Today show when they said something about a small plane hitting the tower. I thought, "oh, how awful," but didn't stop to watch. Then I heard all hell break loose when the second plane hit.

At that point I was horrified and then the Pentagon story broke and there were all kind of rumors about other things happening in DC (I live in the suburbs). I went to the school and picked up my son and spent the rest of the day glued to the TV.

Sleeping when my roomate at the time came running in and told me that there had been a plane accident at the Twin Towers... I took my time getting dressed to go look at the TV when the second one hit then I ran out there and just sat in disbelief. I remember how strange it was to go outside that day, so many sad faces, things closed, people speechless, etc. Errie! God Bless all those families that suffered losses at the Twin Towers on 9/11.

Hampton High School, freshman year. I found out third period, Mr. Tobin's World Geograhpy class.

I was in 8th grade, and found out when I got to 3rd period art class around 9:30. My teacher had the radio on and explained to us what had happened. The rest of the day in school was completely different form any other day.
