I was really in gym when it happened, but I didnt find out totally until 5th per. While walking to 4th per (spanish), we were hearing rumors that a plane had hit the WTC. Me & my friends joked 'how can a plane not see the towers on a bright sunny day?' In spanish , my teacher said nothing of it soI forgot about it. Then we went to 5th. I was in an advance spanish and the rest of the kids in my 5th per class had been in geography watching the whole thing, so when I walked into 5th per (around 10) everyone was sitting and staring at the TV. The teacher told us as calmly as she could that a plane had hit each of the towers, one was already collapsed and a plane had hit the pentagon, I was just completey shocked. I fell into my chair and imediatley began to worry about my father. Being so close to NYC, my dad worked there. I had no idea how far or how close his building was compared to the WTC. I didnt find out until I got home @ 2 that my dad didnt even go to work b/c he had had a sinus headache in the morning and didnt start off for work until 9, and by then 1 plane had hit, and when he heard that a second one hit on his car radio, he turned around and came home. At home, my mom told me that my uncle worked in the towers, but made it out alive. I didnt even register to me @ school that he had worked there. My mom lost a childhood friend in the towers, and my father lost a classmate from the NAVY at the pentagon.
In my school, after like noon time, they announced on the PA that only history teachers could watch, but my teachers felt like we should watch it, so from 5th to 8th, I watched all the news coverage.
