My family is planning to ring in the new year at WDW. This is our first time and we don't have any future plan to be there during this time of year anytime soon. We usually visit 2-3 times a year, though. I have two kids, 9 and 8.
The plan is to go to Magic Kingdom on Dec. 30 and Epcot on the 31st. We will stay for the second fireworks both days. I originally plan to do the late dessert party for the second Fantasy in the Sky in MK. But now I'm having a second thought. A little background here. We've never done dessert parties before. I personally don't like/want to pay an upcharge for something I can do for free (like dessert parties, dinner package, etc.) I know some people love it and swear by it. But I never have a problem with getting a good spot myself by arriving earlier and waiting longer. But I thought I'd take the plunge and do the dessert party that day since it will be extremely crowded. I don't want to start staking out a spot 4 hours before!!
But with the introduction of the "after" fireworks dessert party, plus the price increase, I'm not so sure if it's worth it.
Anyone has any suggestions for where my family can watch the Fantasy in the Sky besides on Main Street? I figure from the back of the castle in Fantasyland would be a good spot since the show doesn't have any projection. But that would probably be extremely crowded too. We've watched fireworks from the TTC before and loved it. But I think I'd like to be in the park for this so we can enjoy all the ambience.
