I recently discovered that housekeeping tips are often found and taken by other than housekeeping. So, from now on, I will put my tips under the pillow on the bed. That is what was suggested by my friend in housekeeping.
This is not a debate about IF you SHOULD tip. It's merely a suggestion to those who choose to tip housekeeping. Thanks for listening.

Where do you usually leave your tip?

I always leave my tips under the folded extra blanket in the closet. Because that's the first place housekeepers look.

I make up envelopes ahead of time marked "Housekeeping" and usually leave them near the bathroom sink or on top of a pillow.

I also like to leave it in an envelope marked "housekeeping" (or mousekeeping, as the case may be :) ), or at least with a scrap of paper folded around it that says the same thing. If I'm not checking out that day, then the housekeeper might not be allowed to take it otherwise, since it's may not be clear that I didn't just leave a few dollars of my own laying around, and she (or he) wouldn't want to be accused of stealling the money I left in my room.

I always use the envelope provided and normally leave it on the mirror or on the TV.... hmm... will think twice about that now :scratchin

RIGHT!!!! :lmao: :rotfl2: It's the first place I'm gonna look when I check in, I'm hoping for a collectors' edition. ;)

Not according to another thread on these boards. Someone found dirty pictures under that blanket.

Hmm, now you have me wondering... maybe THAT was the housekeepers tip?

I usually leave it on the table in the room. When we were in Punta Cana, though, I left it near the refrigerator with a note asking for more diet pepsi. The maid didn't take it because she didn't restock the refrigerator. That's when I started leaving a refrigerator restocking tip near that and another tip for the maid on the table in the room. Gosh, they are so poor there, I wanted to make sure everyone got something extra for their hard work and long hours.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Thanks for the early afternoon laugh Beth!

I usually leave it either on the dresser or the vanity/sink area. Sometimes I leave a note, but other times I don't think of it. They always seem to understand what it is for though, LOL.

I don't understand? WHO else would get into the room except housekeeping? It never even occurred to me that someone else would be in there. what are they doing in there?

I usually leave it on the dresser or vanity folded like a tent longways so it looks like I just didn't leave money laying on the dresser.

That's what I'm wondering. I know there wasn't anyone else but Mousekeeping in our room the 9 days we spent at CBR in May. I can see repairmen coming in if someone had reported the a.c. or something else not working, but we never did that.

Oh, we leave our tip on the table in the room each day.

I've found anywhere in the open works whether you want it to or not. We left our quarters and pennies we bring for pressed pennies/quaters on the desk by accident and they were gone when we got back. It's not that they took the money, it was just that we now had to find lots of change. :rotfl2:

We bring envelopes and leave them on the desk.
