Well everything has finalized with my DVC purchase finally! :cool1: I have already made arrangements for Sept at the Boarldwalk villas for our first DVC trip. Im so excited! While telling a good friend this weekend he said that he has never been! :earseek: So we invited him along and at 33 he will be seeing Disney for the first time. We are only going for 5 days so Im wondering what should I be sure to bring him to see? He loves rides so of course we will hit the thrillers, but what else?

I would take him to The Adventurers' Club on Pleasure Island. Make sure and stay a couple hours in order to get the flavor of the unique sort of comedy.

I also find that touring some of the resorts is rather impressive for a first time adult. WL, Poly, GF, AKL, and Yacht Club come to mind.

Have fun! :drinking:

Show him there's stuff outside of Disney too. Even if it's just DTD. Maybe try and get tickets to Cirque!

We love bringing newbies along! We usually have them read and reread the official guide and also the website. Then we tell them about what things are available and ask what their main interests are. I usually pick the restaurants and find that most newbies love things like O'Hana and Artist Point or California Grill. Depending on his likes and dislikes, you will want to probably start with the park you think he will like most. For most adult first timers, we find they LOVE Epcot most. We tend to end each day there and do the busy things early each day. Pick the high spots of each park that you think your guest will most enjoy and do those things first. I find a little of each park to ge them acclimated is the best way to start. When you get down to the last day, hit some of the things that might be extras at each park. Be prepared to be exhausted, and I hope you plan for a few days guestless after he leaves. We have found it is a mistake to run non-stop for 5 days with guests just before we leave for home.

let him have some input. What does he like - swimming - then be sure to include water parks, golf, tennis, reading, biking, etc.

whatever - WDW has just about everything these days. Okay no ballooning - but just about everything else.

or he may just want to do the parks and nothing else.

don't schedule so hard that no one has any fun!!!

Great ideas everyone! I have never been to Jellyrolls what is it?

I think Splash Mountain.. after that walk down Main Street.. that's what I will do.

Hi, Boardwalk is a great place for entertainment. This description of Jellyrolls is from Deb's site "allearsnet.com":

"Jellyrolls -- A sing-along bar, with dueling piano players who take requests. Weekends can be SRO, so try to get there no later than 9! Jellyrolls is open from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. nightly. There's an $8 cover charge, but no drink minimum. Must be 21. And tell Ray we said HI!"

There is another DVC Dis'er that really loves this place. I have yet to go, but it sounds like alot of fun!

Have a great trip!

Jellyrolls is one of the favorites for most everyone we take too. They want to go back every night!

One word for newbies: monorail. Get on it. It's so much nicer to arrive at MK on the monorail than a bus. Ride to Poly or CR for a meal. Someone mentioned Ohanas. That's fun. (They may not tell you but the pineapple dipped in caramel dessert is included and better than any of the desserts they make you pay for.)

I think newbies should be exposed to as much of Walt's original vision as possible.

First off, Welcome Home!!! Hope your first trip home is truly magical!!!

Regarding your newbie friend...I would definitely suggest jellyrolls (and boardwalk in general) and the adventurers club (and PI in general) as well. They are 2 very unique and very entertaining clubs that people enjoy most at their respective locations. PI and BW in general are great places for adults to frequent IMO.

In addition to the clubs, I would also suggest a specialty cruise (Illuminations or Wishes) as these are not only a unique view of the firework shows but also a very relaxing and elegant way to finish off a great day (or trip). They sort of showcase what we like to call "wdw's casual luxuries". Every adult that we have taken to wdw and have taken on a specialty cruise has felt the same (whether they have seen the shows previously or not), that the cruise is "the way" to see these shows and that it is the memory that stands out the most, aside from the parks, long after the trip has ended.

The only other thing that I can think of that gets mentioned nearly as much as the specialty cruises from people I have taken is the resort (OKW when bringing people/groups) and how nice it is/was and then specifically how much they loved the Jacuzzi bathtubs at the DVC villa's.

Another vote for Jelly Rolls...LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!

As another poster stated, Jelly Rolls is a sing-a-long piano bar. There are two sets of two piano players that rotate on and off stage every hour. The patrons write song requests (anything from 60's to rap to country to Top 40) on napkins, insert a few bucks, and put the requests on one of the pianos. The artists (And they truly are artists in every sense of the word. You have to be an artist to play Baby Got Back on a piano!) play the requested songs. There is often times a lot of audience participation that draws a lot of laughs. It is an unforgettable good time! We have been numerous times and never tire of the fun.

that is a great point!

Ok so Jellyrolls has definately made the list, as well as the monorail of course and some resort hopping. Very nice! Great ideas, thanks everyone!

Well I went in 78 when I was 9 and we did half a day at teh MK so essentially when I went back on 96 with my now DW and her family I was truly seeing Disney for the first time. I fewll in love with Epcot and MK love pleasure Island and DTD in general. I would make sure to hit everything you love because when he sees your enthusiasm towards it it will help build his enjoyment for Disney.
