Will be leaving All star resort and taking a side trip to Nassau for a week and don't want to pay the airline round trip bag fees so looking for somewhere to store my 4 bags for a week and pick them up on our return to Orlando before our flight back home.

If it was more expensive to ship them home than pay for the airline fees, then I would probably pay the airline fees. All else fails, find a storage facility that has small units that you can cancel at anytime. Pay for the 1st month and then cancel when you go back to pick up your luggage.

You can ask at your resort if they will store them. You might get a yes, you might get a no. We were able to store bags at POR during our three night cruise when we were NOT coming back to a wdw resort after. But others have been told no.

Obvious question: four bags is a lot, have you thought about paring that down? For a two week vacation, three bags (two carry-on and one checked) is usually plenty for two adults, including tuxedo, formal dress, and a DSLR kit, and I know because I've done it. I don't know how many are in your party, but if you reduce it enough, a USPS flat rate box to ship back a few heavy WDW-specific items in is pretty cheap, and then you'll be taking about 1-2 checked bags, not four.

That would *never* work for us.

I'm not sure what you consider to be 'too expensive' but I've shipped a bag home and it wasn't outrageous. It more than made up for the hassle of lugging them around. If you store them, you'll have to pay for the time they are in storage, or if you are lucky enough to leave them at a resort, you should tip heavily. I would gladly pay to ship them if that got them out of my hair and I could stop worrying.

It's not for everybody, but four 25" checked bags is an inordinate amount of luggage no matter which way you cut it, and that's just what the OP wants to store/ship home - assuming they're fully packed, that's about 200 lbs.

Thank you for all the feedback but after lots of research we have decided to go with Orlando Baggage Storage that will pick up our bags, store them for seven days and deliver them to the airport on our departure day all for $90.00.

and they still have whatever they're taking to Nassau for a week. Any way you look at it, that's a LOT of luggage!!!

I don't know if this applies to the OP, some guests arrive with empty suitcases and leave fully packed. Their part of the country/world doesn't have the same shopping.

It's good the OP found a solution.

The solution was pretty cheap, too.

And I understand the empty luggage returning full, when I fly to South Africa this fall I'll be bringing my baggage limit on with me, full of stuff for them (also returning with wine, but that's another story ...).

Also, $90 is fairly cheap for the OP.

My wife read an article which says packing is about choices. Empty room in your suitcase means your, unnecessarily, limiting your choices when deciding what to wear.

That's one argument. The flip side is to make your wardrobe choices before you pack. I've done 2 week cruises with one checked suitcase and a small carry on bag. Including several formal wear outfits. A week at Disney and a week at sea would take even less room., especially since I'd do a load or 2 of laundry before we left Disney.

IMHO, laundry on vacation is an absolute last resort. Much better ways to spend vacation time.

I can still pack for a week in a carry-on, with a DSLR, and not do laundry for the whole trip. I pack a lot so I'm very good at it, and have designed my wardrobe to be flexible enough that I don't need six pairs of shoes, I need 2-3. But to your point: there are much better things I have to do than wait for luggage at the carousel, or worry about how I'm going to fit seven suitcases and four people in a Prius.

We do laundry even on short stays. It does not eat up vacation time as I can be vacationing while doing it. Swimming, reading on a porch, eating dinner, etc. I mean, truly DOING laundry takes what, 5 minutes to get it started, 5 minutes to switch to dry, and 10 minutes folding, max? The run times I can be doing as I stated above. I am good with "missing" 20 minutes of vacation to save money and not haul a bunch of crap with me..

We pack a lot AND we do laundry. I do not do well with not having choices! And we tend to wear everything we brought.

Of coures another aspect of packing is clothing size. When DH and I were both plus size, it took a lot more room in the bags! Now I'm not plus-sized anymore, but DS is nearly man-sized at this point. Even for a work trip DH cannot have just carryons, because his clothing for a week (and he's casual, has no meetings, and doesn't wear suits) won't fit in the carryon. Just part of not being a medium-sized person.

OP you weren't even going to try to leave stuff at the WDW resort? I would have tried, at least. Worked for us! Though we weren't going straight home and had a rental car.

As for 4 bags...whose to say they don't have 10 people?
