We will be driving to WDW for the first time this Feb. We live in Minnesota, but need to be in Nashville, TN the day before our vacation starts. We plan to leave Nashville around 6pm on Sat, Feb 7th, and would like to drive 30-50% of the way to WDW that night. This would make our stop over in either Atlanta (4 hour drive) or Macon (5 1/2 drive).

Having never been thru this area of the country, I was looking for suggestions and the good/bad about each area. We would typically try to stay at a Marriot/Sheraton/Radisson type hotel when we travel outside of Disney.

We will only be spending the night, no sight seeing or anythig liek that. Just mainly looking for a nice friendly place to stop along I-75 for about an 8 hour nap.

Thoughts?

Those type of hotels easily accessible to 75 are hard to find, unless you want to drive into town. We prefer quick on and off. having said that, there are a lot of Hampton Inn and Fairfield (Marriott) Inn in Macon, as well as Valdosta (sp). They are clean, well lite, fairly quiet and usually located near chain sit down restaraunts (Cracker Barrel, Outback etc). I think the Fairfield Inn in Macon was next to a Cracker Barrel (sp)
Frankly, with what we saved over a Marriott we got two rooms. Took turns up and back with the driver sleeping in one room alone, and the other entertaining the 4 yr and 1yr old

Wow Thanks Deb!!!!

Fairfields are ok by us. I just checked Marriot's website, and that Fairfiled is in a great location in Macon.

I think that I will make me ressie right away.

That is exactly where we *wanted* to stop over for night.

Thanks again for the great advice. Our ds will 23 months at that point. We will need the break. If not for him, we probably would driven straight thru.

You can drive a little longer to Tifton, GA, South of Macon. There is a Masters Inn that is very reasonable and clean. Cracker Barrel across the street. All prices, rooms, gas & food, seem lower in Tifton over Macon.

I would just like to second the Macon location that Deb is referring to. If I remember correctly it is exit 169 off of I-75. Has everything you could possibly want there in terms of hotels, restaurants, etc and worked out great for us. With a 7:00-ish departure we were pulling up to Port Orleans by 1:00!

Have a great trip!
