My family and I are going to Disneyland in January. It will be my mom, dad, brother (10), and me (almost 16) We will go for about a week, but will be in Disneyland for only 2 or 3 days. The rest of the time we want to see the sights of LA and the surrounding area since it is our first time to L.A. If we stay around Disneyland, would we be too far away from everything else?
Also, has anyone stayed in the Courtyard Anaheim Buena Park? What is it like?

We stayed at the Park Inn last time. It was simple, but good. The location (on Harbor Blvd) can't be beat. It was so convenient.
I would have liked to stay on Harbor this time, but they had no vacancy anywhere.
We are staying at the Holiday Inn Resort Area at the end of the month. It looks nice, and we have a kids suite with bunks, which is great. I will let you know in a few weeks how it is!!

Cool! Thanks!
Does anyone else have any info for us? Another question...How is the Hyatt location-wise? I talked to my marketing teacher today about where they stayed when she went for the DECA Internationals last year and she said that is where they stayed. She also said it was wonderful and within walking distance to DL. I just want to make sure it is convenient location wise. Thanks so much for any help!!!

I spent a night at the Orange County Hyatt last year and loved it. If I'm correct, they offer a shuttle to the resort every 30 minutes, so that's pretty convenient. Another good one with the same shuttle set up is the Orange County Crowne Plaza.

Thanks pr surfer! I looked at the Hyatt as well as the Courtyard Marriott.
If anybody else has anything to share, it would be greatly appreciated!

The best place to stay depends on what you want out of your hotel.

We stayed at the BestWestern Park Place Inn in August and it worked very well for us!

BWPPI was reasonably priced and the location can’t be beat (the front door of the hotel is about 25 yards from the entrance to DLR on Harbor Blvd). We spent very few waking minutes in the room, so we weren’t real concerned about amenities, but the rooms were clean, comfortable, had big refrigerators and the pool was kind of small, but definitely adequate. There is also a good, not great, free complimentary continental breakfast.

We just got back from DLR and stayed at the Ramada Maingate. It is north of the main entrance on Harbor BLVD. I actually timed it and it took 8 minutes and 16 seconds for us three (two adults one child in a stroller) to the ticket windows from the front of the hotel. Two of those minutes were spent waiting for the light to change to cross the street.

I will have a full review in my Trip Report soon. The Best Western Park Place Inn is literally across the street, but it was full when we went. I only looked at the other hotels from the outside.

I will say the Ramada was closer than the Disneyland Hotel when you take into account walking all the way through DTD.

Thanks! Any more info is welcome!!

i don't have a specific hotel recommendation but I do think if I were you I would just stay in Anaheim for the Disney portion of your trip and move somewhere closer in for LA sightseeing.
