Where to Stay...

Hi all,

I've been to WDW SO many times, but have only been to DL for a day-trip a few years back. I'm considering heading back to DL next year for part of my honeymoon, but am not seeing as much info on the hotels.

Which Disneyland hotel would you recommend?

Most people end up at one of the 'friendly neighbor' hotels. Unlike WDW, DL you can get by with a non-disney hotel pretty easily and not feel like you're missing out. We've enjoyed staying at both the Fairfield by Marriott across the street and Hotel Menage which is a short 15 minute walk from the parks.

Of the three Disney hotels, for honeymooners, I would suggest the Disneyland Hotel! The headboard lights up and plays music!!! Plus it's got the best 'Disney' theme!!

On site we have experience at the Disneyland Hotel (DLH) and Grand Californian (GC). We prefer the DLH as the pools and slides are better for us (we have an 8 year old). In addition, the DLH's history and theming are also more evocative of a trip to Disneyland for us. Don't get me wrong, we also love the GC for location and laidback feel. Dinner at the Chef's Counter at the Napa Rose is a highlight for us each trip weather we are staying at the GC or not. To me the GC is more adult and "cozy" and the DLH is more fun and spirited with a nice touch of Disney history and magic. We've not stayed at the Paradise Pier Hotel (PPH) and are vacillating between the PPH and DLH for our trip next month due to the DLH pool closures. Good luck, you can't go wrong!

p.s. it's your Honeymoon you have to splurge and do the chef's counter at Napa Rose!

I second the Grand Californian. I don't think a more romantic resort exists. Absolutely beautiful!
