Where to Stay

So I am in the process of making reservations for this November and cannot decide where to stay. POFQ is my favorite moderate resort, so am kinda leaning in that direction. I thought about AoA, but where it's just me, I can't see spending double on a family suites room and the Little Mermaid buildings look pretty far from the main building. All Star Sports is an option, as it's the first resort for pick up and drop off for the buses. POR is out, as it is just WAYYY too spread out for my taste, as is CBR (bad experience here). I thought about giving CSR a try, but am concerned that it is also really big and spread out. I am not renting a car, but rather depending on WDW transportation. What do you think?

CSR is a wonderful resort, but it is pretty big!! We were wayyyy on the back side and it was quite a hike from the lobby area! Had the same hike to the restaurant and pool. Would be a good choice if you could request and get a bldg. closer to the lobby.

I'm staying in the French Quarter this November as well! So, my vote would be to stay at POFQ! When will you be there in November?

Am shooting for either early November for the tail end of the F&W festival, but if not, maybe end of November (right after Thanksgiving).

It looks really nice. My only concern is if it is too spread out, especially for a solo traveler.

I love POFQ, so I would recommend that resort. The other resorts are nice too, but for what you're looking for, it seems that POFQ would be great and you know you won't be disappointed.

Have fun!

I've done 3 solo trips and have enjoyed them very much, but the week after Thanksgiving two girlfriends and I are going to the AoA and we're staying in the LM section. My one friend has walking issues so we checked out the distance and it really isn't as far as people seem to think. I'd pick AoA if I were you. It's pretty exciting to stay in a brand new resort and how often can you do that?

I was told you can book preferred rooms that are close to the main building at CSR .

Did you actually get to walk the grounds in that area? I did not think it was open yet. Is it well lit? My problem (well one of them) with CBR was where my room was, the walk from the bus stop to the room was not really that well lit and it made me nervous for the first time ever at WDW.

No, no guests have walked it yet, but guests who have stayed at Pop say that Pop is far more compact than CBR and CSR (which are wonderful resorts, but huge and sprawling complexes) and AoA is designed the same as Pop, on a much smaller scale. A google map showed it to be maybe 2 blocks at most from the main building to LM, not really far at all. At CBR and CSR the farthest 'villages' are really a significant distance, to the point where they need to provide 'internal' shuttle buses that just circle the resort all day and night. I know what you mean about CBR. I love that resort and have stayed there many times with friends, family and solo, and there are indeed areas where you have to be very aware and careful if you're by yourself when it's dark. At least you're smart; some people think that everything in WDW is safe. We love it there, but there can always be someone there who isn't there to enjoy the magic like we are. You need to be careful with children and when you travel alone. :thumbsup2
PS: I just thought of something important that could actually make AoA safer for solo travelers than the CBR and CSR. AT CBR for example, when you get off of the bus at night, you have to go through the parking lot to get to the rooms, shops and recreation areas. It's when you're in the parking lot that you hit the dark areas. In AOA the buses let you off right in front of the main building and you walk through it and go out to the main recreation area and the courtyards of the rooms. In AoA, we won't have to go through any parking lots. The courtyards and recreation areas are always well lit. This should help make your decision a lot easier!

I would stick with POFQ because its so compact and quiet. Once you get to the larger mods and values it can become so loud and chaotic

Did not like walking through the dark parking lots at night at CSR.. there were 2 ladies and 2 girls..would def. feel safer being let off right at the front of the building which is what they do at POP..but cant wait to give the Little Mermaid rooms a try..
