Hiya all. Not sure if I'm posting this on the right forum, but I'm looking at visiting Disney World maybe the year after next and have started my planning already because there is soooooo much to do!! :goodvibes

I would love to stay on site at Disney, but it's probably going to be out of my price range (I'm from the UK so got to pay for expensive flights)! A friend recommended staying on International Drive. Anyone stayed there before who can give me some advice or recommendations?

Thanks. :thumbsup2

International Drive is great for hotels that aren't too expensive. Close to the shopping centres and lots of restaurants. The only thing that brings it down is if you plan on visiting the Disney Parks for most of your visit you're not going to have the complimentary shuttle service to the Parks like you will with parks on the Disney property and around Lake Buena Vista. So you will be forking out cash for taxis a lot.

So the price you might save on the hotels at the time of booking, you will sometimes make up for transport costs when you get there.
That's the only thing that would stop me from staying on International Drive. I'm sure there are plenty more perks.

Hopefully others will have some more ideas!

We stayed at Windsor Hills last year and that would be an excellent offsite option. We had a 3 bedroom, 3 bath w/ splash pool townhouse for under $700 for entire week. The pool area was great and the townhouses were nice :).

How many are in your party?

Many times if it's 4 or less staying at a Disney value resort can be in the same price range as off site if you include transportation and parking.

You get way more for your dollar in your accommodations off site than on, but my guess is you are looking for the best deal.

How long are you going to be staying in the area?

What did you want to do while in town? (disney, Universal, Sea World, etc...)

Will you be renting a car, or relying on taxi's and hotel shuttles?

Is this a Solo trip? or are you traveling with others?

There are a LOT of options available in the orlando and Disney areas, but if you are trying to figure out what is the best overall value for you, there are several questions that should be answered to help determine what would be the best fit.
