I am sorry but I don't know how to figure thei sout on my own. I was wondering how one would go about renting points for a disney trip (family of 4 adults and 3 kids)

Going in Sept. Not sure how much this option will even cost us. Anyone else have any other idea on how to stay together. Seems like options are, feel free to given opinion on any of these

1) 2 rooms at a value or a cabin
2) rent DVC points for a villa (not sure on price)
3) stay offsite, thsi would be fine if we had a pool but I worry that it would lose its disney magic since its my BIL's first trip. I want him to have a great time!!

Disboards has a DVC rental thread. Points typically rent for $8-12 a point.

We would need more information about your trip to give you a better guess-timate. How long do you plan to stay. Do you want dining? How old are the kids?

Are you interested in Free Dining? If so I'd go with 2 value rooms. Last Oct. my mom, my 2 kids & I visited WDW for the 1st time ~ we stayed at Pop and everyone had there own bed - DS had an Aerobed 4 Kids ~ DD had a blow up sleeping bag. Free Dining was wonderful!

1. Values or cabin. May qualify for free dining depending on time of year - would need to plan to pay full price for the rooms if so. Otherwise, various discounts may be available for room costs. I "think" value rooms are roughly $100/nite with taxes, etc. - so 2 rooms x 7 nites x $100/nite = $1,400

2. Rent DVC points. Would need to rent either 2 studios, or a 2 Bedroom. 2 studios is less points, 2 bedroom provides washer/dryer + full kitchen. If you clink into the DVC area there are links to determine the number of points you'd need for a stay depending on which place, time of year, and studio vs. 2 bedroom. Here's also a link into the points charts. http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-vacation-club/DVCpoints.shtml. So, if you looked at October at SSR, 2 bedroom is 242 points for the week - so roughly $2,420. 2 studios would be 210 for the week - so roughly $2,420.

3. Off site is generally best budget wise. I've stayed at Windsor Hills, which someone else recommended. I did this in Oct 2 years ago for less than $100/nite. We had a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo with full kitchen and washer/dryer. The pool area was great, as was the kids playground.

Again, this is not exact, just a very rough idea to let you know the relative cost of some options.

Bonnet Creek might work for you. Its a wyndham time share thats right on disney property (next to the caribbean beach resort). That time of the year you can get a 2 bedroom for $120 a night. Resort has 2 lazy rivers, mini golf, waterslide, zero entry pool and park transportation with rooms that you can see Epcot's ball and fireworks!

Check out the orlando hotels and attraction board for more offsite stuff. But, free dining can be a REAL value as well!

hope you don't mind - i just wanted to clarify.
2 studios (each with a kitchenette) at ssr in sept would be 192 points, or $1920 at $10 per point (op, note that that price is inclusive of all taxes/fees, etc. there are no other charges unless you add the dining plan, additional cleanings, etc). also, all wdw resorts offer magical express (free trans to/fro the airport), and various, frequent forms of transportation (mostly buses, but also ferries and monorail) to all the parks so no need to rent a car. and you qualify for extra magic hours, free package delivery, etc

off-site will probably be cheaper, just make sure you add in all the taxes and other fees, as well as the cost of transportation for everyone in your party to/fro the airport, and/or a rental car (most offsite resorts offer some sort of bus service to the parks, but they might be very limited infrequent). do consider what you will do if one person in your party falls ill, or gets tired/cranky while in a park (figure it will happen at least once in a trip, more likely a few times:headache:). if you are staying onsite, an adult can take a child (or just the adult if he/she is the sick one) can just take disney transport back to the resort to rest. offsite would be much more difficult.(would everyone need to leave? or would the sick person drive "home" and have to come back to get the others? or would the sick one have to wait hours for a bus to get back to an offsite resort?)
there are lots of things to consider when making the desicion.

enjoy, whatever your choice!:)

If you are looking at two studios, they will not connect and they might not be close to each other. A studio only sleeps four - most have a queen bed and a double sleeper sofa (OKW has two queen beds).

I'm sure if you have boys especially they would love the cabins. I have not personally stayed there, but I understand they are nice. I think a nice part would be having your car(if you are driving) right out side and having a deck and a small yard for the kids to run in. The down side is one of the beds is in the living room and is only a double. Renting points, if it's in your budget, would be my choice. You have the conviences of seperate bedrooms, but being in the same room. yes you would have this with renting 2 value rooms, but you wouldn't have a kitchen, which could definetly be a money saver. Off site is ok, but you loose EMH and you add having to pay to park and driving the the parks everyday, and to me, that's on less thing I have to worry about is navigating around WDW. I get can get on the bus and enjoy the sites if staying on site.
