Heading to Florida in May for our 2nd trip to Disney. Last year we went in Feb and drove straight through 26 hours. (Car problems) This year we decided to do 2 days leaving Toronto probably around 4 on a Saturday morning driving till around dinner 6 or 7 can anyone recommend where we should stay (State, City etc.) I figure driving 12-14 hours with will get us to Georgia (?) ANy suggestions to this plan would be appreciated.:bounce:

Will you be taking the 1000 Islands bridge to cross into the States?

I am pretty sure that the time frame puts you around Valdosta, Georgia. I can't offer a place to stay because we always drive straight through. Driving while everyone is asleep is my favorite time.

Sorry not sure where the 1000 Island bridge is but we will be crossing in Windsor if we take
I-75 and Niagara Falls if we take I-95

Wherever you stay make sure you pick up the Motel Savings books that are usually at the Official Tourist Centres. For example if you're going I-75 look for the first State Tourist Centre about 15 miles south of Toledo, Ohio. These books are about the same size and paper quality as the old TV Times books that used to come in the weekend newspapers. These coupon books have really good discounts and they're listed in geographic order as you drive down I-75. You should be able to determine a fairly good place to stay, with the many reputable motel chains that you'll recognize. I'd also recommend purchasing the latest edition of Dave Hunter's "Driving Down I-75" which is not only a valuable source for gas, meals, and sleep stops, but it's also a very entertaining read for that long drive. I think I read somewhere that he was going to do an I-95 edition. Have fun...the drive can be a very pleasant part of your vacation.

We just returned from Disney we left home at 6:22 on Dec 6th and arrived in Valdosta Georgia at around 3 PM on the 7th We drove from London Ontario and tok I 75 and crossed in Windsor. We stayed at the Fairfield inn in Valdosta it is a newer hotel I am told and we got a roomsavers coupon for 43 dollars for the night and free breakfast in the AM. Also from Vadosta it is a short drive to WDW we left Valdosta at around 8:30 or 9 on the 8th of Dec from the hotel and stopped in Florida at the welcome centre for our free FLA Orange juice and some Disney reading material for the rest of the drive and arrived at Disney by around 12:15 that afternoon. So if you can do it stop in Valdosta it makes the last leg of the journey very short and much more exciting.
