We will be traveling to Disney in August of 2016 and I'm trying to narrow down which hotel to stay at. With me, I will have my husband, mother in law, and two kids ages 6 & 4. In the event I or we have to go back to the hotel and cool off for a bit, I want it to be easy to get back there. Obviously, the resorts along the monorail are very easy (we were thinking either the Poly or Contemporary).

Are any of the other resorts a quick bus ride back? We aren't interested in staying in any of the value resorts.

Thank you! :)

Hi! There is really no quick bus service. You could stay at the WL if you want off the monorail line. But ages 6 & 4 I am sure you will be at Magic Kingdom a lot. So monorail if in the budget is the way to go.

I would suggest Contemporary.
Besides the monorail, there is a walking path. That can come in very handy if the monorail is not operating or if the line is long.

I should use the term "quick bus service" but if I needed to get back to my room, does the bus system usually take a while?

Since I'm planning so far in advance, I can just save up.

I don't think I would term any of the buses as 'quick service'. They can be quick, but there are so many variables that you cannot count on any 'set' time for any of them - no matter which hotel you stay at.

So, if you need 'quick', the best thing is to have your own vehicle - even that may not be considered quick (with walk time, etc.) but it can be quicker than the buses in some instances (definitely not all though).

a good rule of thumb is an huor to get back to your room from any park via bus. longer if you need an accessible seat( in ECV or chair and cannot transfer ) as they only have 2 o4 3 slots per bus and they can fill up very fast

The monorail resorts, and the Contemporary in particular, are good if you plan to spend a lot of time at the Magic Kingdom. If you plan to spend more time at EPCOT and/or DHS, you might want to look into the EPCOT-area resorts as those are walking distance from both parks or a boat ride.

PP is correct that you should probably plan an hour to get around by bus. Traffic impacts bus service. And some resorts will share buses, especially mid-day; not so much opening and closing times. If you are at another resort (such as for a meal), you should probably plan 90 minutes travel time; again, hopefully it would be less.

Enjoy your vacation!

Hello I saw on another post made by you that you mentioned the DAS card. I was wondering if it ever worked for you and you were able to use a DAS card for MS?

You would probably be better off reading (just) the first post in the WDW DAS FAQ thread.

You should start your own thread as this one is very old. Then you can ask questions that you have and be helped better
