We are planning a trip to Disney MK in Feb. We have 4 kids and are wondering where the cheapest place to stay on the grounds would be?

I have heard that the Wilderness Cabins are really nice. And would renting DVC points be a good thing?

Thanks!

Hi Reminisce71! And welcome to the DIS!!! :)

About on-site accomodations for a family with 4 kids - your most economical choices would be the Ft. Wilderness Homes or Cabins OR 2 rooms (connecting) at the All Star Resorts.
We have 4 daughters and have done both. Both options have their advantages. If you want a full kitchen and a lot of privacy - then Ft. Wilderness is a good choice. If you can get 2 adjoining (or connecting rooms - the ones that would have a door between them) at the All Stars, and would like 2 bathrooms, and would like that "hotel" feel, then the All Stars are for you.
There MAY be discount codes available for your time. It is worth some research.
I have not had any experience with renting DVC points and it always sounds intriguing to me - but I do believe that it would be more expensive than the other options (but I cannot be SURE) - but I think that you would have many more amenities. You could look into this on our DVC For Rent Board.

Hope that this helps!

Again - Welcome to the DIS! :)

HI Jennifer, just got back from a trip. I have 4 kids and we stayed at the ASMu. THere we 3 adults and we got 2 connecting rooms. The kids thought the hotel was great. My kids are young ages 4 to 8 and I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else on site with them. We went to quite a few of the other resorts to look around or eat, and I was glad we stayed where we did. I would have felt the need to keep them alittle bit quieter elsewhere. For the amount of time we spent in the room, I wouldn't want to spend more than I had to for a room. We were basically back at the room to sleep. We only stayed at the hotel one day, and the kids spent the day at the pool. Plenty of other kids around for them to make a few friends and have some fun.
