My inlaws offered to give us a week of their timeshare. We have a condo rented but have plenty of time to cancel it. The timeshare would be free for us to use. Money is tight so this is a no brainer for me... use the timeshare.

I'm pretty certain that a stay inside Disney is out... We are going the last week of April... So (finally my question) To late to get in there I would think.

What timeshare would you stay in CLOSE to Disney World if you could pick any? And why? This is a Interval International time share.

Thanks for everyones help!

get the information from your ILaws - (you need their membership number) - or if they have already signed up - you need their user id and password

www.intervalworld.com

I would go see what is available for April, 2008.

Disney might be. the big difference between Disney and others is that Disney does not list a whole bunch at a time. So disney is hard to spot. You probably can't get a 2-bedroom with Disney - but you might get a 1-bedroom or studio if your family will fit. remember there is $95 fee to disney (if you get one) plus the fee to II $139

disney
BCV
DBW
DVO
DSS
DWL

marriott
MCP
MGV
MGR
MHZ
MIP
MRP
MSP

sheraton vistana - village
SVV
VKW
VVM

sheraton vistana - resort
VIT
VIO
VO1

those are all pretty good - Disney and Marriott's are the best (my opinion)

if you really want a Disney - try May or Sept

Don't forget CYO (Cypress Pointe Resort) and CYI (Cypress Pointe Grande Villas).

CYO (also CYN) especially doesn't show up often, CYI (also CYX) a little more and both are close to Downtown Disney and great resorts. The second codes are the same resorts but represent Sunterra direct deposits to II.

Thank for the help.

I'll get their info later tonight.

Should I keep checking back for the disny ones? (early in the am or late at night?) Any chance I might actually get one?

Would it be for a week or do they do a shorter time for the Disney ones.

I don't think they do anything online... Can I sign them up with their Membership ID? Thanks for the great info!

I have another question to add to this.

How long should I try to get a timeshare inside DW before I try for one of the ones listed above? My trip is starting April 27th until May4th. April 26th is the earliest we can check in.

I again got my hopes up to get a 1 bedroom in any of the resorts inside DW... Anyone else trade a Interval timeshare in to stay inside DW?

Thanks!

Disney comes up from time to time, assuming that the timeshare that you're using to exchange has sufficient trade power to pull a Disney, but the inventory tends to be mostly studios and an occaisonal one or two bedroom unit - usually Saratoga Springs or Old Key West but others show up too. With only five months until your travel date you may get lucky. But you're much more likely to pull one of the very nice Marriotts or a Vistana. With a moderate trader I can see two bedroom Marriotts - Royal Palms (MRP), Sabal Palms (MSP) and Cypress Harbour (MCP - the best of that group IMO), a three bedroom Marriott Imperial Palm (MIP), a two bedroom Sheraton Vistana Villages (VVM), and a one bedroom Marriott Grande Vista (MGV) available right now for your 4/27 check-in date.

The only DVC that I've stayed in is Saratoga Springs, which is outstanding, and we really liked the proximity to Downtown Disney, the quality of the unit and the resort theming and you do get to take advantage of EMH, Disney transportation and all. But the resorts listed above are all high quality resorts as well. I don't think you'd go wrong with any of them.

there is a chance - not a great one.

but they definitely show up on the internet.

Just a couple weeks ago, I got a 1BR at OKW for Memorial Day week with a Friday check-in. There was also VWL for the same week with a Saturday check-in available at the same time, but we're only coming down for a long weekend, so we went with the Friday in the less popular resort.

So, it can happen---late April should be lower demand than late May.

That said, if you are traveling with kids, I'd really encourage you to consider a 2BR unit at one of the other high-quality places. The 2BR DVCs are harder to come by, and when it's more than just me and the Mrs., we really appreciate the extra space more than the Disney perks, which we rarely use.

there is a studio at BCV in 28 sept thru Oct.

this is doing the food/wine festavial - so worth considering. not to mention the Halloween party at MK.

BCV is one of the Epcot resorts - so you can walk or boat to both Studios and Epcot. Plus it also have one of the best pools on WDW property.

SilverMickey, I don't see mention of the resort name and week number of the II deposit that you would be using to search for an exchange (unless I just missed it?). If the deposited week is a good trader, particularly a 5 Star resort and/or a prime, popular week to be there, then you may indeed be able to trade into a DVC resort. However, if the deposit is neither of the above, then it may not have the trade power to get into a DVC resort, regardless of when you search. Before getting your heart set on this, perhaps you need to determine whether your deposit is strong enough. :confused3 If you post it here, there are several experienced timeshare exchangers who may be able to offer an opinion. Also, TUG forums may be able to help with this. Just a thought.

Either way, there are certainly many very, very nice resorts in the area, as mentioned above. Hope with works out well for you. Timesharing can be a really great way to vacation!!! :)

Hi! I'm not sure of the week That they have to trade. They have 3 weeks banked and one of them is a floater???

The Resort is Steele Hill Resort • SHR, SHW & SRE in NH 2 bedroom, Sleeps 8

How do I tell the "star" quality of the resort? I'll find out the wee tonight.

We have used other people timeshares more than some of them have used them on their own. We should own one really however the $ isn't here right now. My hubby usually does a family member a favor and won't accept money... He is a carpenter... so they offer up a week here and there.

We have never stayed in a "bad" resort, and have really enjoyed every vacation. I'm giving it a shot in the dark to get into Disney as that is the Magic place my son with Autism started talking. We stayed about 20 minutes away that year and loved it so I'm hoping for this little different twist this year.

Again thanks for everyones help.

www.tug2.net

timeshares user group.

go look in Sept - see if you can see the SSR one. If you can then you might be able to see one in May.

Now April I don't know.

my trader can't see DVC in April.

just - May, Sept, Oct, Nov, and Dec, Jan, Feb

you do need a top trader for March, April, June, July, August.

I want to pop on here and thank everyone again for their advice.

An update:

With a little research I have found that my in-laws resort doesn't have trading power with DVC for April or May. (can't travel any other time so I din't check on that)

In the mean time I looked at the other timeshares on this list and decided I would probably be happy with any and went to my in-laws... Who had already booked their week for someone else. (Thinking that is DVC was out than we didn't want it at all) :headache:

SO! I said thanks anyway and went about my business.

My brother came by to borrow my computer while he was up visiting from out of state and asked if I would post a week of his time share on Craigslist as he has weeks banked and had a week he needed to use or lose by July 2008.

I told him I would be happy to rent a week from him if I could afford his price... He said just the fees to transfer 49.00ish and the $ to trade 150.00 ish and it would be great. He just didn't want to give the timeshare a week. Said Merry Christmas and said his shopping was done for me family.

His time share is RCI... That seems like a entirely different ball of wax. I picked Bonnet creek and gave him the numbers.

He checked our dates. Nothing just yet... Then he noticed that Bonnet Creek said "points" and he said his is "weeks". He said to get this type of trade he would have to put a specific request in.

Does anyone know if I should even try to get Bonnet Creek or if I should just not bother him with this. I didn't really get my heart set on the other one with interval / dvc but it seems I have gotten my heart set on Bonnet Creek and so quickly.

ramble ramble ... sorry folks... I'm done. I had to type here as my hubby can't take one more Disney anything before Christmas. I think he feels this all happens on its own and poof pretty dang good vacation!:scared1:

RCI has some nice resorts

Hilton Grand Vacation Club - very, very nice
Sheraton Vistana Resort (also on II)
Sheraton Vistana Village
Cypress Pointe (there are about 4 listed) (also on II)

both Sheraton Vistana Resort and Cypress Pointe are both really, really close to WDW - but you will definitely need a car for either of them.

I agree with this list all very nice resorts with a variety of things to offer. You might also consider Orange Lake Country Club - particularly if the River Island section can be pulled.
