Disney has lots of onsite hotels so there isn't a real solid answer to your questions. If budget is a concern then you should look at the value resorts - All Stars and Pop Century. It depends on the time of year you are wanting to visit and how many of you are traveling ... as to the price and what might be available.
Disney's next category are moderates. These are Port Orleans Riverside, Port Orleans French Quarter, Carribean Beach, and Coronado Springs. These are slightly more than the values - I say slightly as it depends on what time of year you are going. There may be times of the year when they are considerably more.
The top category for Disney are the deluxes. These are Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Contemporary, Grand Floridian, Beach Club/Yacht Club and Boardwalk. Dolphin and Swan are on Disney property but not operated by Disney. Sometimes you can get some good deals here.
This site under Accomodations has good info on each of the hotels. The other site to look is at
http://allearsnet.com/acc/faq_hot.htm. They also have good info.
If you give a few more specifics about time of year you are traveling, number in your party and their ages we might be able to help more.
Welcome to the disboards.
