We are planning to honeymoon in Disney in June '07 and are trying to figure out where to stay. We're looking at the Moderate Resorts to keep the trip affordable. Can people please share their thoughts on the Moderate Resorts they've stayed at and offer some recommendations? We'd specifically like to know about the rooms, buses, and overall impressions for a honeymooning couple.

Thanks!!

We are actually staying at a moderate this May to save some money. (need to get around to changing my siggie :teeth: ) But we chose Port Orleans Riverside and requested a room on the mansion side of the resort. We came to our decision from the pictures on www.allearsnet.com, the site has pictures of everything you could want. Also there are DISers that are huge fans of the other the moderates; Carribbean Beach and Coronado Springs.

The resort boards have great FAQ threads stickied to the top.

Congratulations and happy planning!
Ashley

We have stayed at all the moderates and love all of them for their unique themes and decor, but our absolute favorite is Coronado Springs -- that's where we will be staying for our honeymoon. All of the moderates are great -- you can't go wrong with any of them -- Good Luck choosing!!!

Being a deluxe kinda gal my last trip i booked for POR and after staying a few hours then xfered to the poly! the grounds are huge get ready for lots of walking and the bus service is terrible im just being honest...If i was you i would shell out the xtra bucks and go to the WL or the AKL just my 2 cents its ur honey moon anyway u want it to be special

We stayed at POR when we got engaged... absolutely loved it!!! Beautiful and very romantic!!!
We are staying at Boardwalk Villas (a present from my parents) for the honeymoon, otherwise we would probably be back at POR.
We didn't have any problem with the bus service at POR - but I've also found that sometimes we just get lucky/unlucky. Doesn't matter which resort we're at!

We had a great time at Caribbean Resort. We requested a corner room looking out to the water and got it. We'd go back there. We didn't use the bus, so I don't know much there.

I enjoyed our stay at POR, but my preference is the Deluxe Resorts. You know, you might even could look into renting a cabin at Fort Wilderness for a little extra privacy.

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside last May (not for our honeymoon—that was way back in 2003, LOL), and we really enjoyed it. The resort has great theming and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. We would happily return there. It’s the only moderate I’ve ever stayed at, but my husband also stayed at Caribbean Beach; however, he much preferred Port Orleans Riverside.

We love CBR, it's very romantic, although I'm biased because we spent our first Disney weekend together at CBR :lovestruc The rooms are a really good size and they have double sinks outside the bathroom. There is also a "privacy curtain" between the room and the sinks but honestly it's not so "private" because you are silhouetted behind it :rotfl: The buses are fine unless you get in the building that is the last stop. That happened to me several years ago while staying there with my parents and we could never get on a bus, they were always full before they got to us. But we fixed that by walking just a little bit further to another bus stop. I really like CBR for the food court and the table service restaurant (great food, great service, and great drinks).

Coronado is nice too but it's a long walk to the food court. The restaurant is really nice for breakfast (buffet that was delicious) but I did not have lunch or dinner there. I stayed there with my niece and we had a corner room which seemed larger than other rooms. I haven't stayed at PO since they updated it and made it POR and POFQ, it used to be Dixie Landings and I thought it was just o.k. but I've heard really good things lately and would like to try it again.

Best Wishes and Congratulations on your upcoming wedding :goodvibes

I like the CBR the best...although (like many others) its the only one I have actually stayed at. But I have strolled through the other moderate resorts. I think it all comes down to the theme that you like the best. My favorite vacation (other than Disney) is to hop on a plane and arrive in the carribean somewhere and just sit on the beach. This is my idea of paradise so CBR fullfills that need for peaceful colors, and a tropical feel. All of the resorts are great though. I would check out Allears.net and see what you like the best. Good luck! :)

I too love the Caribbean Beach Resort. I love the fact that there is water and beaches all around, and hammocks too! The only thing that I can really suggest is try to stay close to the Food Court area in a perferred room and get the refillable mugs that you can refill throughout your trip. The bus service is pretty good too!
