Now that we've returned from our winter trip, we're ready to plan for the summer! I have a villa at BWV booked for the second half of our stay, but I still need to book a few nights at the beginning of the trip. What would you suggest?

  • Animal Kingdom Lodge - 2 Water/Pool View Rooms
  • Grand Floridian - Lagoon View Room
  • Grand Floridian - Lodge Concierge Room
  • Yacht Club - Water View Room
  • Yacht Club - Concierge Water View Room

I would recommend 2 rooms at AKL over 1 room at any other resort! AKL is GREAT, you will love, love, love it!!

I voted for YC concierge water view because that's what *I* want!!! :p :p :p But it's so expensive I don't know if it's really worth it. I would have a hard time paying over $300 a night for a room with an ap discount... it just seems insane. ;) But I'm sure it would be great. :)

Realistically I think I'd do GF lv and try for Conch Key. :) I love that castle view and seeing the EWP. :)

Wouldn't do AKL... wouldn't do Sugar Loaf.

Good Luck!!

Hey Cali :wave2:

I voted for GF Lagoon view. Can't beat the view! I'm sure you'll have an excellent time no matter where you stay. My second choice would be AKL, just for something different. :sunny:

I voted for AKL, just because it's in a different area of WDW.

They all sound great! You'll have a wonderful time, whereever you stay!

I voted GF lagoon view---it is a different area than the BWVs and on the monorail--a huge +. I also thought about the AKL, but I would go savannah view if I had a choice. Have fun!

for Grand Floridian Lagoon View. I would normally vote for YC because it's my favorite resort. But, I figured since you already will be at the Boardwalk for the second half of your trip - you may want a different area for the first part. I didn't vote concierge because I wouldn't want to pay the extra $$ for it. We did concierge once and didn't feel it was worth the extra $$$.

I almost voted Animal Kingdom Lodge but the Grand Floridian appeals to me more. Love that monorail access.

have fun

I voted for AKL pool view because that is what I just booked for september followed by a BW view one bedroom!:hyper:

I voted YC concierge. We stayed there on our Sept 2002 trip and we really loved. The resort is beautiful, great location, we really loved the concierge staff, etc.
This trip we are doing our dvc stay the first part of our trip, to Universal for 3 days and back to Disney for hopefully a great Poly concierge or AKL concierge rate & stay.

My vote was for AKL but I would do Savannah instead of pool view. It is a great resort!!!! :D

Cali...why do you just go for it and get the royal or presidential suite at the AKL?
I'm sure Janet2k has plenty of pics and enticing reviews for that!

You certainly strike me as a person of gooood taste!

I know one thing....I''m going to do a poll for my next trip!

Hey! WAIT!

We could have a DIS "Internet REALITY" show where the viewers pick out our resorts, tell us our itinerary, where to eat, play, what rides to do, etc......:earseek:

hehehehehe....and Pete could pay for it all, right?;) ::yes::

Alright, just an idea.....never mind!:jester:
Way toooo much Nyquil tonight.....:crazy2:

Well, we possibly could do 2 AKL Savanna View Rooms - but, in the summer, will the animals be out?

I'd also consider Polynesian LV Concierge or BWI Concierge Deluxe (but, most likely I won't see that discounted). :)

I think it would depend on where you want to spend your time...

Since you're at BWV for part of the trip, I don't think I'd move to Yacht Club. I think I'd go to AKL or an MK resort just for some variety and a change of scenery!

I'd probably try AKL Concierge. Oh, wait! I AM!

:teeth:

I'd definetly go for AKL Concierge if they had two queens and a daybed, but since they don't, I really don't think the bunkbeds would work for us. After seeing the bunkbeds at WL on our last trip, they just wouldn't work for us. BUT, if Disney wants to offer a $199/night passholder rate for AKL Concierge, I would book two rooms! LOL

For June/July regular season, any idea what AKL Savanna View would run? $169 + taxes?

For the summer, how far in advance do you think it is wise to book a "backup" room just incase no discounts come out? I'm a bit concerned about waiting too long and nothing being available, but I don't really want to pay rack rate. I just got these quotes from Disney, for 3 nights:

Animal Kingdom Lodge
  • 2 Standard View Rooms $1599.00
  • 2 Water/Pool View Rooms $1739.40
  • 2 Savanna View Rooms $2107.44

Wilderness Lodge
  • 2 Standard View Rooms $1599.00
  • 2 Woods View Rooms $1699.42
  • 2 Courtyard View Rooms $1940.16

Contemporary Resort
  • 1 Tower Park/Bay View Room $1237.68
  • 2 Standard Wing Rooms $1766.16
  • 2 Garden Wing Rooms $2040.48

Polynesian Resort
  • 1 Garden View Room $1150.68
  • 1 Lagoon View Room $1438.38

Grand Floridian Resort
  • 1 Garden View Room $1284.48
  • 1 Lagoon View Room $1522.02

All the prices just seem way too expensive after you've looked at what discounted rates "could" be. Coronado Springs has 2 Standard Rooms for $963.36, I'm wondering if I should book that as my "just in case" or maybe even just one wing room at the CR?

Do you have AAA? I think for regular season you would get 10% off deluxes. I just booked my AKL pool view for sept (I wanted to buy my airfare - got a great deal through jetblue) and I was quoted $625.53 for one room 3 nights. That is for value season, so it is a bit less.

I voted 2 AKL Pool view rooms. We loved our pool view room at AKL. We still saw plenty of animals, but I just loved overlooking the pool and hearing the AKL music drift up on my balcony. Plus you would have 2 bathrooms and more room to spread out, always a plus as far as I'm concerned. AKL is such a great resort, you can't go wrong.

Nope, we don't have AAA. Basicly, I'll have to wait for general public or Annual Passholder rates to come out for a discount. Boy do I miss the old Magic Kingdom Club! ;)

Well, I think I may have my resort choices narrowed down: 2 rooms at AKL (probably pool view, savanna if I can get a good rate) or a GF Lagoon View, or even one not on the poll, 2 standard wing rooms at the Contemporary.
