Haven't been to Cedar Point in over 15 years, but want to take the kids there this summer. Our plan is to get a hotel for 2 nights while we are there, but we don't know where to stay. We don't really want to spend more than $100 per night, and less than that would be even better! Any suggestions?

Also wondering if anyone had gone through Priceline for this area. We have never tried Priceline for anything, but thought maybe this would be a good time to try. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I found it virtually impossible to find a hotel on Priceline in Sandusky. I've heard the Maples Motel is pretty nice, although I've never been there. The last two times I was at Cedar Point, I stayed at the Breakers or the Breakers Express. Those two places were pretty nice.

Check out the Maples Motel at www.maplesmotel.com

We stayed at a Holiday Inn at Vermillion the last time we were up there. It seemed pretty new and very clean. I don't think that it was too expensive. Good luck and have fun.

we stayed at breakers express 2 yrs ago for 99 (or was it 109) a night. Nice enough room, but not really worth the money.

Many of the DISsers, especially the Riddlers, are going in August. Check out Oldkickers website devoted to this meet. It has some links to hotels. Maybe you can come that weekend and join us.

They put up a new hotel not far from Cedar Point. I think it's a Microtel (?). It's off of Rt.2 on Rye Beach Rd. It's only about 2 years old at the most. It looks nice, nothing fancy though. I will check what else is around.

Ok~ Here is a list of the various hotels/motels near Cedar Point:
Clarion Inn
Days Inn
Econo Lodge
Howard Johnson Express
Holiday Inn Express
Travelodge
Rodewa
Sleep Inn
Comfort Inn
Best Western
Quality Inn

You can go to the specific hotel/motel website to get availability/rates.

Hope this helps:D

Thanks to everyone for helping me out! Sounds like I have a lot of options. The DIS meet sounds like a great time, but we plan on going to Cedar Point at the end of June, on our way to Hilton Head. Sorry we'll miss it!

Barry Hom, does The Breakers ever offer discounts other than Spring/Fall? We are staying there in Aug. and it is a little pricey. Is it worth it to stay on property or should we stay at The Great Bear Lodge which offers a great AAA and Entertainment discount?

Discounts for the onsite hotels can be had early or late in the season. I've driven by the Great Bear Lodge and it looks nice.

Aspiring Cindy-The Great Bear Lodge is BEAUTIFUl. We stayed there right after it first opened. The Breakers is also supposed to be very nice. I've stayed in the Sandcastle Suites "on the Point."

IMHO-If you can get a good rate at GBL, go there. It's a short drive to CP and if you leave the park and go back, there are always good parking places way up front later in the day.

We've stayed at the Breakers a couple of times. We always get rooms in the "old" section of the hotel. The rooms are clean, but look very old. Not surprising since that portion of the building has been around a long time.

Great Bear Lodge looks like a fun place. For a DISmeet. :teeth:

We should seriously consider having a DISmeet there sometime.

Sorry that I don't have any better advice on hotel rooms around CP. We've booked a room at the Days Inn for the Friday before Memorial Day and for 3 nights for RiddleCON. Got a great online deal, but I think that the DIS boards booked all the cheap rooms. Good news travels fast around these parts.

Good luck and good hunting for a room.
