We will be driving from NY and figured a good place to stop for the night would be North Carolina. Does anyone have any suggestions where to spend the night that would be close to the exit? Something with a pool would be nice to tire out 5 yr old daughter.
Thanks

I am from N.C. I also live pretty close to I95. I would definately recomend Smithfield N.C. There are several nice hotels right near the exit at I95. There are lots of resturants and hotels right there together. Its all located right next to Carolina Pottery. A HUGE outlet mall. You may have seen it traveling I95 before.

We stayed at a very nice Country Inns & Suites in Lumberton, NC last May. We thought it look relatively new, but the employee said it had been there about 6-7 years. The room was clean & neat, & we got a continental breakfast in the morning.

Thank you for your information. It will be a big help. I dont know if we will be staying in NC or SC depending on how far we get. I want to get as far as we can on the first day.

Here's a great site with all the info you could ever want about I95 exit services:

Where in New York will you leave from? We're in the Syracuse area, and have always been able to make it into SC in 14 hours or so. On our most recent trip, we drove to the Savannah, GA area in 17 hours. This made for a short, sweet trip to WDW the next day!

Santee, SC is another great area to stop, with many hotels and restaurants immediately off the exit. Do you plan to make a reservation or just see how far you can get? (Our family of Type As could never just wing it without reservations!)

We are close to Buffalo, NY and the more we discussed it, we want to make it to SC. I definately want to get farther the first day so the 2nd day is not as bad. I will check out your suggestions.
THank you

SC has some nice hotels for an overnight stay in both Florence & Santee.

In Florence we stayed a nice, clean Sleep Inn with a morning continental breakfast. I would stay away from the Hampton Inn on US 52 - I don't know about the Hampton Inn near the convention center.

In Santee (exit 98) we have stayed at Clark's Inn & have eaten at their restaurant in front of the hotel. There is also a Maurice's bbq at the same exit. If you like bbq, they have a great buffet or you can order off the menu.
