Where to stay in NC/VA(off I95) on the drive home?

We leave this Thurs!!!
On the way home we usually drive straight through. This time we want to sleep over in VA. Maybe somewhere between NC and VA. I'm sure we can make it to that area, but not further. I'm looking for some place nice. Not a motel. Even though it is only for 1 night I need a nice clean, safe place. It will be myself, DH, DD(7yo), DS(2yo), and DSIS(13yo).
Any place someone has experience with they can recommend?

We have driven from CT and back for the past 14 years and most of the time we stop on the way home at the Holiday Inn in Rocky Mount NC. It is the one at US64 and I-95 EX 138. Go to ichotelsgroup.com and search for this hotel. It is much nicer than the average Holiday Inn that you find off most of the I95 exits. It has 4 floors, a restaurant and lounge, and very nice rooms. The surrounding area is also very quiet and nice and we like the fact that there is an Outback steakhouse next door. If you want to go a little further (maybe a couple of hours), I would recommend the Holiday Inn in Fredericksburg VA on Plank Rd. This one is just as nice as or nicer than the one in Rocky Mount and also has an Outback steakhouse and several other restaurants right nearby. We love both of these hotels and now always plan on stopping at one or the other on our way home depending on how far we think we can make it. Until we found these two hotels we were always disappointed with our stops on the way home but since we found these, we are always very comfortable. Have a great trip!

A lot depends on what time (and what day) you leave WDW. BUt for us, we leave WDW on Saturday morning at 6:00 AM (give or take) and make it all the way to Emporia Va. by 6:00 that evening. And that includes a # of rest, gas stops along the way. IN Emporia we always stay at Best Western--but the hampton Inn is nice also.

Thanks so much for the info. I will check these hotels out. I'm not sure what time we will be leaving. It will be on a Thurs. from Vero Beach. Probably at check out time, maybe 11am. We want to drive till about 10pm. I'm not sure where that will put us? Maybe NC is a better choice for an over night stay.

Anyone else care to add their favorite hotel in the NC area?
