We are considering going to Myrtle Beach for vacation in July but have never been. We have a 5 year old. Any suggestions on where to stay on the beach and what there is for a 5 yr old? Thanks.
My parents (who take my kids) always enjoy the Beach Cove resort. It is on the north end of Myrtle Beach. There are a few pools and a lazy river at the hotel (most of the big hotels have all this). There is plenty to keep a 5 year old entertained. I remember when we stayed at the Beach Cove one year, they had crafts that they did during the middle of the day up on their deck. Both my kids got to decorate sand dollars and they just loved it. We still have them hanging in their rooms.
I would definitely recommend North Myrtle Beach, it is more of a family atmosphere.
You can easily keep a 5 year old entertained...there are lots of miniature golf courses, an aquarium, amusement parks, shopping....lots and lots to do!
And might I suggest something a little different? The Travel or Pirate Campground rent out campers and there are numerous things to do. Crafts, family activities, great pool (indoor and outdoor) and of course you are camping right on the beach. Just something different from the hotels.
The Sea Mist resort has LOTS of water rides and slides for kids of all ages. We stay there regularly and really enjoy it. It is several blocks south of the Pavillion area.
I'll throw in another hotel, if you haven't heard of one that suits you yet, Crown Reef , this hotel is right on the beach, close to just about everything, beautiful, activities for kids, cafe that's pretty cheap. Did I mention Beautiful .
