Where to Stay for WDW Marathon Weekend?

I am looking for a Disney property that will be most convenient for the marathon relay. Our group would probably like the Boardwalk/Epcot area (Beach Club hotel perhaps?) but when I called the reservation number yesterday, they did not offer those hotels as "host" hotels. There is no way we want to be forced to drive to the race start. So.....anyone have any ideas or information?

For Marathon weekend. ALL hotels are host hotels. (Never trust the reservation people to give you an accurate answer--they don't seem to have a good track record with that)

Thanks for that. One further question......will the second leg relay person be able to walk from the Polynesian Hotel to the start? I have tried to look for this information but could not find it.

Since the relay has never been offered for the marathon before, I'd say no one really knows.

Worst case, the relay member can ride the monorail system to the start at Epcot and take the transport to wherever the transition is.

Best case would be as described.

I would just stay where you would stay if there was no marathon going on. Every hotel will have transportation. I've stayed at POP and The Swan and since we weren't going to the parks the day of the race I couldn't walk back to my resort anyway. The only resorts I think offer anything that weekend above the rest are the monorail resorts since you can use it instead of the buses. I wouldn't pay the prices those resorts charge though in the middle of Rome (and I didn't) so I'm sure as heck not paying that price in central Florida.
