My fiance and I are starting to plan for our honeymoon in 2020. We are stuck on which resort to stay in.
Is it worth it to stay in a Deluxe instead of a Moderate? Where would you stay if you were on your honeymoon?
We have narrowed it down to- Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Polynesian Village and Port Orleans FQ or Riverside. (If you have another suggestions let me know)
(We both have not been there since we were teenagers) Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would recommend looking up what each hotel has to offer. We have stayed at WL and AKL and liked them both. I would recommend AKL Savannah view if you think it's not too expensive. There's something about walking out onto the balcony and watching the animals.

Worth is subjective as it's different for everyone, but for me, a deluxe is worth the extra cost. Out of your choices, we've stayed at AKL, WL, & Poly and while the Poly is our favorite, we also love AKL & WL. All 3 offer beautiful surroundings, nice pools, and good dining options. I don't think you can go wrong with any of your choices as I'm sure you'll have a great time no matter which resort you choose. Good luck and happy planning :wizard:.

I would suggest AKL. DH and I did an adults only trip there last year and we loved it! It will definitely be "our" resort.
We really enjoyed coming back from the parks and sitting in the Victoria's Falls lounge. The ambiance was so relaxing.

You may also want to look into the Epcot area hotels like Beach Club, Yacht Club, and the Boardwalk ... where you can walk back and forth to Epcot (and DHS) ... but Epcot has a wonderful selection of dining options and alcohol (if you drink).

Congratulations!! We're going on our honeymoon to Disney in October. We absolutely would recommend staying at one of the Epcot resort hotels, specifically Yacht or Beach Club. We ultimately went with Yacht Club for the guaranteed balcony, and the newly renovated rooms with hardwood-type flooring. We are very much looking forward to being walking distance to the World Showcase for all the dining possibilities. My fiance and I have never been to Disney by ourselves, so we are looking forward to all the adult things we've never gotten to do before, which includes drinking around the world a few nights. :rolleyes1 And being so close to Epcot in general will certainly be convenient!

We don't particularly care about Hollywood Studios, but even so, just the resort area is breathtaking. I honestly don't anticipate staying in any other area of WDW unless I'm with children!

The resorts you listed are my favorites! I have never stayed at AKL but have always wanted to. Stayed at WL and Poly as a kid, and POFQ for our honeymoon. If you have room in the budget for a deluxe resort it’s usually worth it, but we loved POFQ and the convenience to Disney Springs, and one of our favorite afternoons was renting a surrey bike at Riverside. I don’t think you could possibly make a bad decision with these options. The main factors are cost, transportation convenience, and theming preference.

I've stayed at all those resorts, but even before you listed them I immediately thought: AKL. Even if you don't get a savannah room view, the resort itself is so beautiful and relaxing. IMO, perfect for honeymooners.

Headed to our Honeymoon in 2 weeks. I choose AKL Jambo with a Savanah view. Wake up in the morning and have breakfast over looking the animals sounds fantastic to me... If i had to choose somewhere else it would have been the Poly. Those are my two favorite resorts... Live it up, book where you want, dont worry about the cost.

We did a split stay for our honeymoon because we couldn't decide on a resort. Ended up renting DVC points and doing our first night at Poly, 4 nights at the Boardwalk and 4 nights at AKL with a Savanah view. Loved all 3, BW ended up being the favourite because of the easy access to HS and EPCOT and also the really nice ambiance at night. AKL is also awesome and unique, we just found it less conveniently located. Especially since we didn't rent a car and were relying on buses. Poly was only 1 night due to the price, I've just always wanted to stay there, hard to beat staying at a hotel on the MK monorail. We splurged on the deluxe because it was our honeymoon and figured we probably wouldn't be able to justify the extra money any other time. I think its probably hard to go wrong with any of your choices!

We've stayed at several places and Honeymooned at the Poly. We love the Poly with it's laid back atmosphere and tropical destination feel. We brought the kids there a few years ago and we're going there again in January. Staying at the Poly feels like you're getting 2 honeymoons in one (Hawaii & Disney). If you stay there, I highly recommend the luau. It's an amazing show.

I like the idea of a split stay. Without kids it'll be very manageable. Do a few nights at the Poly and then stay at the Yacht or Beach so then you can really do some adulting at EPCOT. EPCOT without kids is very different and really gives you the time to enjoy the details of the World Showcase.

I always spend the extra to do a deluxe. We've been disappointed every time we've strayed from that category.

Good luck and congratulations!

First of all, congratulations! DH and I honeymooned at WDW almost exactly 9 years ago. We were pretty young when we got married, and deluxe prices were way out of reach. We stayed at POR and absolutely loved it, so much that we stayed there again 3 years later. POR is a very romantic, relaxing resort. The grounds are gorgeous. Taking buses everywhere did not bother us. For our honeymoon, we were in a mansion room. On the second trip, we stayed in Alligator Bayou. We loved both sections, but the mansions are a little more “honeymoony” to me, so that might be something to request.

Our first deluxe stay is next month at YC. We got a really good deal with the summer room rates, or we may not have considered it. We’re doing it because Epcot is our favorite park and we love world showcase. Can’t pass up being able to walk there so easily! You may consider one of the Epcot resorts if you decide to go deluxe and like Epcot and the Boardwalk area, which I think would be a lovely place to stay for a honeymoon.

Of course, this is all a highly personal decision because everyone likes different things. But if you need to save money, I don’t think you’d be disappointed with POR. We certainly weren’t, and I’d stay there again in a heartbeat.

Congrats to both of you! You definitely have some great choices for resorts. We were fortunate enough that we got to stay at Grand Floridian Main Building CL for our honeymoon and if money would allow, we would stay there again in a heartbeat. Aside from AKL (on the Disney bucket list for sure), DW and I have stayed at WL, Poly, POR and POFQ. You cannot go wrong with any of them (IMHO). Poly and WL have great food selection, pools and themeing. As @chippydale33 and @disneycat321 said, I would look into the Epcot resorts as well. We just stayed at BWI last week and loved it. There is so much to do on the Boardwalk and being within walking distance of two parks is a huge perk. If you are looking to save some money POFQ and POR are great choices. Being just a boat ride away from Disney Springs is always nice.

Pick the resort based on which theme you're most attracted to. I've stayed at all the Deluxes except for Wilderness Lodge (only because I don't love the rustic theme). My top three are Animal Kingdom Lodge, Yacht Club, and Grand Floridian.
Congratulations!

I would do Poly to be able to see the MK fireworks from your room and the electrical water pageant plus you can walk to the TTC for the Epcot monorail plus take a boat or monorail to MK. Not to mention the theming. We also love WL for its theming and WCC is one of our favorite breakfasts. If you decide to go moderate we love POFQ and POR.

IMHO A deluxe is not worth it. POFQ or Alligator Bayou in POR is two of WDW best resort and areas. Not sure how much you want to spend...but the Deluxe resorts are really really high. Compared to a great resort like POFQ..its hard to beat.

I always suggest a one bedroom at Old Key West. Peaceful, boat to Disney Springs and a 2 person Jacuzzi! 'Nuff said 😉
