We have a trip to Orlando planned for next August. We will be staying at MOWC for a week with my family, probably doing Sea World and maybe a water park......otherwise just hanging out at the pools (which I have heard are nice) This is for a family reunion.

Then my family will move to Vistana for a week, doing Disney parks. What looks like will be happening is we will be at MOWC Sat-Sat and Vistana Sun-Sun, so we have Saturday night to stay somewhere

I was thinking of checking into either the Beach Club, Animal Kingdom Lodge or Wilderness Lodge for one night, just to enjoy the resort. We'd check in really early (by 10am) and try to arrange for late check out the next day.

I'm sure the kids would love the Beach Club, with Stormalong Bay, and that was my original plan. But then I started thinking they will have lots of nice swim time between MOWC, Vistana and a day at a water park. So, then I started thinking WL or AKL. The kids would probably enjoy Whispering Canyon Cafe,a nd I know there is lots to do at Fort Wilderness. However, I'd like to try Boma, and I think the animals would be neat for the kids, too.

Any suggestions? My kids will be 12, 9 and 7.

You will absolutely love WL. Both resorts are nice, but WL is so "magical." Plus, it's by the lake, which is really neat. AKL is pretty far out from everything at WDW except for Animal Kingdom. I don't think you could go wrong with either resort. They are both absolutely beautiful. The kids will love Whispering Canyon. I think it just depends on your personality.

If you plan on just enjoying the resort, I would choose AKL, but that is just my personal opinion (which has a lot to do with Boma, which is a FANTASTIC restaurant). Also, the field reps at the savannah come out and talk to you during feedings and there is usually something going on in the lobby like story telling or music in the a little alcove. My 7 year old found AKL to be extraordinary. Truthfully, I have stayed at many resorts at Disney (ASMu, ASMo, ASSp, POR, POFQ, CBR, CSR, Swan, Dolphin, AKL, Contemp, Poly, with YC coming up) and all of them offer enough to spend a relaxing day enjoying pools, biking, fishing, napping, etc.

If you just want to relax at the resort for the day, my vote is for the AKL. Your kids will have a great time exploring the lodge and watching the animals. Have fun whatever your choice.
