I am planning a trip for March 2013 with the whole family, but will be returning in October with my DD7 to celebrate my favorite holiday. Any suggestions on which resort to stay at? Is one better during the holidays (decoration wise) than others?

If you're going to Mickey's NSS Halloween party, staying near MK is great. That means Contemporary, GF, Poly, or Wilderness Lodge. It's a lot faster to get little ones home quicker when the party ends at midnight!:wizard:

That is a good idea, I didn't even think about transportation late night. Thank you for the suggestion.

If you stay at the Contemporary you can walk out of MK after the Halloween party. I think MK is also the only park that gets really decorated for Halloween, they were already putting up the decorations when we were there at the end of August. We're trying CR next summer for the first time because our 11 year old DD thinks it will be cool to walk in and out of MK, which was her favorite park this year.

We just returned from a CR stay (split with BC earlier in the trip.) I highly recommend CR for MNSSHP!!! The day of the party, we arrived at MK at rope drop, spent the morning there, had a lunch ADR at Tony's and then went back to CR for an afternoon swim break. We walked to MK for the party - really easy! After the party, we saw the long line for the resort monorail, but our boys still wanted to take the monorail back to the resort. My husband, on the other hand, was quite happy to skip all that and stroll back to CR. I would definitely recommend it for a Halloween visit!

I agree that I would go with a monorail resort for the ease of getting back to your resort after the party. We've never stayed at the CR, but I agree with pixarmom that the CR would be the easiest (and fastest) to return to after the party since you can bypass the long monorail/boat lines and walk back to the resort :thumbsup2.

Thank you, I will be booking our trip soon and will definitely be looking at the CR. She is going to have such a great time. I just wish it would go faster, but hey the planning is half of the fun.

DD and I did a mother/daughter Halloween trip back in 2008 and we stayed at WL. Super easy to get to MK via the boat and I liked being at a smaller resort and having access to everything (food) right there inside and close to our room. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

I arrive on Sunday and my niece arrives on Friday (I am speaking at a conference and she has school). We are staying at Grand Floridian and going to MNSSHP Sunday night. We made reservations for Tony's figuring we might as well be right in the thick of the party as soon as it starts. Then I found out one of the attorneys I do a lot of work with is going to be there at same time with his daughter, so we made it 4 for dinner and 4 for the party. He was staying at POR, but when he saw the proximity of the Grand Floridian (or any of the Monorail resortts), he changed his reservation so he too can be 5 minutes away from the action.

BTW, the two old guys are also putting on costumes to either amuse or embarrass the girls! Yo ho, yo ho, Pirate Guys are we!!!!!:scared1:

That sounds like fun!! I'm sure you will all have a great time especially the two old guys in their Halloween Costumes, lol. (I bet the girls will have a great time seeing that adults can be funny in their costumes as well.
